Hollywood's A-Listers: Ortega, McConaughey, Wahlberg & Countless Stars Greenlit to Film Movies Amidst Strike

Strike exemptions granted for indie films featuring A-listers Ortega, McConaughey, Wahlberg, and more, paving the way for exciting new movie productions

Several movies have been granted the green light to proceed with filming by SAG-AFTRA amidst the ongoing actors strike. Among these productions are highly anticipated films featuring renowned personalities such as Jenna Ortega, Matthew McConaughey, and Mark Wahlberg. Despite the strike affecting actors in Hollywood, who have chosen not to collaborate with studios affiliated with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), SAG-AFTRA has chosen to make exceptions for a few independent projects. One notable TV show that was given the go-ahead to resume filming during the strike is The Chosen, as approved by SAG-AFTRA.

According to a recent report from Variety, an additional 39 projects have now received the approval to continue filming by SAG-AFTRA during the actors strike, with some of them featuring famous actors. Noteworthy productions include Mother Mary, featuring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, as well as Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, both produced by A24. Other prominent actors who will be working on films during the strike include Matthew McConaughey in The Rivals of Amziah King, Mark Wahlberg in Flight Risk, and Sigourney Weaver in Dust Bunny.
