Discovery has ordered two investigative documentaries for its Discovery+ streaming platform. The documentaries, titled "Gwyneth vs Terry: The Ski Crash Trial" and "Peltz-Beckham vs The Wedding Planners," focus on the legal battles of Gwyneth Paltrow and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, respectively. This announcement was made by Warner Bros. Discovery UK & Ireland on July 12.
Clare Laycock, SVP Head of Content, Networks & Streaming at WBD UK & Ireland, expressed enthusiasm for the diverse range of commissioned programs on discovery+ and linear television. These programs cover various beloved genres including property, reality, food, true crime, and paranormal. Laycock also mentioned the excitement of offering both new and returning favorites featuring high-profile talent.
One of the highlighted programs is "Gwyneth vs Terry," which focuses on the 2023 lawsuit between Gwyneth Paltrow and retired doctor Terry Sanderson. Sanderson accused Paltrow of intentionally injuring him during a ski collision in 2016 and sued her for $300,000 in damages. Paltrow, on the other hand, refuted the claims and countersued for $1. The trial took place at the Park City District Court in Utah in March, attracting attention for Paltrow's courtroom style and testimony.
During her testimony on March 24, Paltrow dismissed the idea that the $1 she requested as compensation was inspired by her "good friend" Taylor Swift, who received the same amount in August 2017 for accusing DJ David Mueller of sexual assault, alleging that he groped her in 2013. Paltrow clarified that the dollar amount is symbolic, as the actual damages she incurred would be higher.

Paltrow, who has a 19-year-old daughter named Apple and a 17-year-old son named Moses with her ex-husband Chris Martin, was cleared of any responsibility by the jury and was given a symbolic $1 in compensation.
In a statement, she stated, "Going along with a false accusation would have meant compromising my integrity. I am satisfied with the final decision, and I am grateful to Judge Holmberg, the jury, and their careful handling of the case."
While no additional information has been disclosed regarding Paltrow's documentary, Discovery+ is also intending to delve into the tumultuous world of Brooklyn's wedding coordinator, leading up to his impending wedding to Nicola Peltz Beckham in April 2022.
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz-Beckham's wedding faced legal trouble when Nicola's father, billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, filed a lawsuit against their wedding planners. Peltz, 81, accused Plan Design Events cofounders Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba of not refunding him the $159,000 deposit he had paid for their services. According to Peltz, he requested the family to hire a different coordinator just nine days into the job, and the event planners had exaggerated their capabilities to organize a grand ceremony.
According to a source, Nelson, Nicola's dad, has not sued anyone in 15 years. However, when it comes to his daughter, he will always protect her. The source describes him as a loving father who entered into an alleged agreement with a group that failed to deliver on their promises, despite managing to successfully pull off a once-in-a-lifetime wedding for his daughter.
In February, Braghin and Grijalba retaliated with their own countersuit, claiming that the Peltz-Beckham family made demanding requests on short notice and had poor communication skills. Nelson, his wife Claudia Heffner Peltz, and Nicola were all named in their legal filing.
