Hollywood Heir Arrested as Investigation Unveils Disappearance of Wife and In-laws

Police arrest Hollywood exec's son as investigation into missing wife and in-laws deepens Shockwaves ripple through Los Angeles as a gruesome discovery in a dumpster leads to murder suspicions, leaving the city on edge

Authorities said that the search for a missing woman and her parents is ongoing, following the arrest of her husband on suspicion of murder. The police discovered a body part in a dumpster, and traced it back to the home of the family in the Los Angeles area. Mei Li Haskell (37), Gaoshan Li (71), and Yanxiang Wang (64) are still missing, while Samuel Haskell (35) has been taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigators traced the bag to Mei Li Haskell and Samuel Haskell's residence, where they lived with their three children and Mei Li's parents. Upon visiting the home on Wednesday, authorities found blood and additional evidence inside, as reported by CNN affiliate KABC.

Samuel Haskell is currently in custody with a bail amount set at $2,000,000, according to the police. It remains uncertain whether he has legal representation. The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Inmate Information Center states that he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Haskell is the child of Emmy-winning producer and Hollywood agent Sam Haskell, who worked as a representative for various celebrities including Kathie Lee Gifford, Whoopi Goldberg, Dolly Parton, George Clooney, and more. CNN has contacted Sam Haskell for a statement. The police have confirmed that family members are currently looking after the children.

According to investigators, no other body parts have been found aside from the torso. The DNA results from the torso are still pending, but Capt. Scot Williams of the Los Angeles Police Department stated that it is believed to be Mei Li Haskell, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

LAPD Detective Efren Gutierrez explained to CNN affiliate KCBS on Wednesday that typically, when a murder suspect dismembers a body, it is done to delay identification. Therefore, it can be inferred that the suspect and the victim may have had a prior connection.
