Indie cyberpunk platformer Replaced, originally set for release in 2022, has been delayed to 2024 to ensure the game is finished and polished.
Sad Cat Studios, the developer behind Replaced, recognizes the immense anticipation from the community and is committed to not letting down fans by hastily releasing the game.
Despite experiencing earlier setbacks, the development of Replaced is steadily advancing, and it will be readily accessible to Xbox Game Pass subscribers upon its official release in 2024.
The highly anticipated indie cyberpunk platformer, Replaced, has faced a delay and is now set to release in 2024. Despite the excitement surrounding upcoming Game Pass titles, such as Starfield, fans of this particular indie game will have to exercise patience before getting their hands on it. Initially revealed during E3 2021, Replaced captured attention with its promise of a 2.5D cyberpunk platformer intertwined with action-packed gameplay. Originally scheduled for a 2022 release, the game unfortunately missed its intended launch date.
Now, the game release of Replaced by developer Sad Cat Studios has officially been postponed to 2024. In a post on the official Steam page, the company explained that they made this decision in order to fully create and polish the content. The developers acknowledged the challenges of game development and the high expectations from the community, and they want to avoid disappointing fans by rushing the release. Despite previous delays faced by Replaced, the team emphasized their understanding of the ambitious nature of the project. As an example of the difficulty involved, the developers mentioned that the game's main character features over 500 meticulously hand-painted animations for the platforming sections. Initially announced as a day one Xbox Game Pass game, Replaced will now be available for subscribers upon its release in 2024.
Sad Cat Studios has faced previous delays with Replaced, with last year's conflict in Ukraine impacting development due to the living arrangements of some developers. Despite these setbacks, the developers have stated that the game's progress is currently steady.
Thankfully, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will soon have a variety of options to choose from as alternatives to Replaced. In September, six games have been confirmed for Game Pass, including Starfield, Gris, Lies of P, Party Animals, Payday 3, and Cocoon. While Starfield needs no introduction, Lies of P offers a Bloodborne-inspired twist on Pinocchio's story, and Payday 3 serves as the sequel to the popular heist-themed franchise. Both games will be available on the day of their release, ensuring an influx of fresh content for Game Pass subscribers.
Replaced will be available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
