After leaving the game studio he helped co-found in 2007, former Platinum Games VP Hideki Kamiya discussed his recent activities and revealed his plans for his next game project. Following his departure in September, Kamiya took some time off to relax as he did not have any concrete plans for the future. The veteran developer cited creative differences and a shift in the company's direction that did not align with his artistic vision as reasons for his departure.
"I view games not as mere products, but as pieces of art," Kamiya told IGN. "I aim to imbue my artistic vision into games and create experiences that are uniquely mine. I made the decision to part ways with the company and carve out my own path in order to continue developing games that truly reflect the creativity of their makers."
After leaving Platinum Games, Kamiya initially had no plans for his next project. However, after some downtime spent watching movies and TV shows, he realized he already had a clear idea for a new game. While he cannot start working on it yet, he is actively considering ways to make it happen. Kamiya is keeping the details under wraps, but he assured that the game will be a true "Hideki Kamiya game" if it comes to fruition. He acknowledged that the process of making games often deviates from the original vision, so he is open to exploring various options to find the best path for development.
Kamiya is still several months away from completing his one-year hiatus from game development, as per his contractual obligations. In the meantime, he has launched a YouTube channel to share new content. Kamiya expressed his hope that his YouTube channel will provide a platform for him to make announcements once his hiatus is over.

As a passionate fan of Hideki Kamiya's work, I am thrilled to hear about his upcoming project. His unique vision and ability to create unforgettable gaming experiences are truly remarkable. I have been a fan of his games since the days of Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe, and each new project he undertakes only further cements his status as a master of the craft.
Kamiya's departure from Platinum Games was a surprise to many, but it is clear that he is determined to continue creating games that are true to his artistic vision. His comments about viewing games as art rather than mere products resonate deeply with me, and I am excited to see what he has in store for us with his next project. I trust that he will deliver something truly special and game-changing, and I can't wait to experience it firsthand.
