Bethesda has recently released a new update for Fallout 76, and while there are many exciting new features for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users, one particular feature seems to have slipped under the radar and is not mentioned in the patch notes. Despite its initial release in October 2018, Fallout 76 continues to receive regular updates even five years later, with Bethesda constantly adding fresh content and rewards for players to discover and enjoy.
Setting it apart from other games in the Fallout franchise, Fallout 76 is an online multiplayer game that allows players to team up and take on various enemies together, all within an expansive open-world environment that is four times larger than that of Fallout 4. Although it faced a turbulent launch due to a lack of compelling content and technical issues, Fallout 76 has managed to build a dedicated community of players who eagerly await each new update from Bethesda. These updates introduce new seasons filled with exclusive rewards and unveil new locations, such as The Pitt and the highly anticipated upcoming addition of Atlantic City.
Fallout 76's recent update, known as Once in a Blue Moon, introduced a range of new content for players to explore. However, one remarkable aspect for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users was not explicitly mentioned in the patch notes. With the implementation of this update, Fallout 76 now runs natively on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, granting players the opportunity to enjoy the game with stunning 4K graphics and a smooth 60 frames per second. Prior to the Once in a Blue Moon update, Fallout 76 was limited to 30 FPS and offered compatibility settings for next-generation console users, but it did not fully support the impressive combination of 4K resolution and 60 FPS.
Fallout 76 players were delighted by the recent update on next-gen consoles, which resulted in a significantly smoother gaming experience thanks to the 60 FPS compatibility. However, Xbox Series X users noticed that Bethesda had removed the FPS boost option that allowed players to increase the frame rate from 30 to 60 FPS. This change was made because the game now runs natively at the highest possible setting. Some players have expressed their desire for additional updates to further enhance their user experience, such as the inclusion of a field-of-view slider similar to the one found in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
In addition to the next-gen optimization, the Once in a Blue Moon update for Fallout 76 introduced two new Cryptids, public events, side quests, rewards, and a Daily Ops Mutation. The Blue Ridge Caravan now offers a multitude of new quests for players, along with themed rewards. Vinny Costa also provides a variety of daily quests that offer caps as rewards for those who complete them. Furthermore, the Once in a Blue Moon update marks the beginning of Season 13 in Fallout 76, bringing with it a collection of Hollywood-themed items for players to acquire.
Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
