Heather Rae El Moussa is finding new ways to honor her and husband Tarek El Moussa’s 10-month-old son, Tristan.

On Wednesday, December 6, Selling Sunset's 36-year-old star announced on Instagram that she had gotten a tattoo of her child's name behind her ear, just below a heart. Heather captioned the photo of her new ink next to a picture of herself with Tarek, 42, seemingly pregnant, with "Before & after Tristan …it’s the little things."

Heather documented the tattoo session on her Instagram Stories, showing artist Kareem Masarani creating the design while she lay on the table. Her partner Tarek, 41, narrated the experience as Heather wrote, "Got a little something today. Got my little love's name on me."

Heather and Tarek celebrated the arrival of their son, Tristan, in January, following their marriage in October 2021. Tarek is also the father of Taylor, 13, and Brayden, 8, from his previous marriage to Christina Hall.

Since sharing the news of her pregnancy in July 2022, Heather has been open about the challenges and joys of being a parent. In October, she disclosed that she had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder.

“I recall telling my assistant, ‘I feel like I’m dead,’” she shared with Today.com at that moment. “My brain was so worn out. My body was so worn out. I was constantly exhausted and no amount of sleep could alleviate it.”

Heather initially attributed her issues to "mommy brain," but later received a diagnosis of Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid gland, per the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms can include fatigue, muscle aches, joint pain, and memory problems. She has since started taking medication.

Despite the challenges, Heather exclusively told We in June that she is "obsessed" with being a mom and mentioned that she is continuously learning and growing as a stepmom to Taylor and Brayden. "Going through the newborn stage and having a baby is a completely different ballgame," she told Us.

"It's total chaos at first, right? You have this new baby at home and you're trying to figure everything out while dealing with postpartum," she said. "Everything is different, but I never expected to feel this obsessed and in love with him. I knew I would love him, of course, but it's like an obsession and a deep love. It's so hard to even leave him to run errands. Going to the gym is a challenge."

Heather added that motherhood quickly changed her for the better. "I'm definitely more calm, patient, and loving overall," she said. "I'm not letting things upset me or bother me. When something stressful is happening, or people are being negative and talking trash in public, I'm kind of like, 'You know what? Whatever.' Because my peace for Tristan is more important."
