Hannah Gosselin Uncovers Heartbreaking Truth: The Disturbing Story of Collin's Separation from his Siblings by Mom Kate

Hannah Gosselin sheds light on her childhood with her brother Collin and the differential treatment he received compared to their other siblings. In a preview clip from Vice TV's Dark Side of the 2000s, shared on Twitter on July 7th, Hannah recalls how Collin was consistently segregated from her and their six other siblings throughout their upbringing. Their parents, Jon and Kate Gosselin, former stars of Jon & Kate Plus 8, are the parents of sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Aaden, Joel, Alexis, and Leah, now 19, as well as twin daughters Cara and Mady, now 22.

"He wouldn't join us in outdoor activities," Hannah relayed to the camera, emphasizing the lack of inclusion. "Moreover, his dinner schedule always differed from ours."

She further expressed, "I believe there was a lack of effort within the household to teach him the distinction between acceptable and unacceptable behavior."

Collin, who was sent to Fairmont Behavioral Health Institute by Kate in 2016 due to his "special needs," has been estranged from his mom for a long time. After divorcing Jon in 2009, she gained full custody of her eight children. Collin left the institute in 2018 and went to live with his dad, followed by Hannah in the same year. Jon stated in 2019 that, apart from ADHD, Collin has not been diagnosed with any other medical condition. Collin shared in a Vice TV preview that he believes his mother took out her anger and frustration on him due to the difficult circumstances she was going through, such as the divorce. He felt he was in the way and became her target.

Collin previously discussed how his mental health was negatively affected by his time in the facility, describing it as a frightening place.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in November 2022, he stated, "I was in a very dark place mentally. I believe being in a facility like that does more harm than good. I spent my 13th and 14th birthdays there when I was young and lacked essential life skills. At the time, I didn't even know what to expect or how to process being there, so I felt hopeless. However, I discovered that writing to my dad was a small glimmer of hope that helped me realize there was a way out."

Despite being estranged from Kate, Collin expressed his desire to eventually have a relationship with her.

"It's regrettable that we didn't have a relationship," he commented at the time. "I believe every son yearns for a connection with their mother. Nevertheless, I am thriving."

In his graduation post, Collin expressed gratitude to his family while omitting any mention of his mother. He began by acknowledging his incredible sister, Hannah, who has always been there for him and provided unwavering support. Collin then extended his thanks to his dad, who has imparted valuable lessons on overcoming adversity and maintaining resilience. He appreciates his dad for consistently backing his choices and being there for him even when he takes on more than he can handle. Collin concluded his post by revealing his future plans of enlisting in the Marine Corps.

The TLC alum also paid tribute to his dad’s ex-girlfriend Colleen Conrad in the upload.

“I want to express my gratitude to Colleen for her unwavering support. When I envision someone to stand by my side, Colleen immediately comes to mind,” stated Collin. “I have frequently acknowledged that she serves as my driving force towards achievements in this realm.”

On the other hand, Hannah has her own conflicting dynamics with her mother Kate, an insider revealed exclusively to We in April 2022.

According to an insider, Kate has made a significant effort to ensure that her children do not spend time together, as she is deeply upset by Hannah's decision to live with Jon. The insider also revealed that Hannah and her mother do not communicate regularly, as she is focused on her high school studies and college aspirations.

In terms of Hannah's relationship with her other siblings, the source shared that she longs to spend time with them, but it has not been possible due to living with Jon and her brother Collin in Pennsylvania. The situation is described as sad, and Hannah hopes for a time when she can reunite with her brothers and sisters. It is emphasized that her decision to live with Jon had nothing to do with her affection for her siblings, as she loves them deeply.
