Halo Infinite Patch Notes Unveiled

Halo Infinite gets a much-needed boost with the latest October 2023 update patch, addressing player-reported issues and providing a smoother gaming experience

Highlights

Halo Infinite's October 2023 patch addressed some issues, including removing the framerate restriction for Vsync on monitors with a high refresh rate.

The Customize menus have been made more stable and the performance issues in the Forge Edit mode, specifically when selecting multiple objects, have been resolved by the patch. Certain display issues with armor items have been fixed, although there are still ongoing efforts to address extended loading times caused by a recent Nvidia driver update.

343 Industries has launched an update for Season 5 of Halo Infinite, their first-person shooter game released in 2021. The game faced criticism even before its launch for its graphics and underwhelming character animations displayed in various gameplay trailers. Initially, only the multiplayer mode was available upon release in December 2021, which left some gamers satisfied with the enjoyable gameplay but still dissatisfied with the slow progression and lack of a single-player mode.

Since then, the single-player campaign for Halo Infinite has been released, widely regarded as one of the top solo gaming experiences on the Xbox Series X/S. However, due to the franchise's storied history, players have exceptionally high expectations for each installment in the Halo series. Nevertheless, 343 has been working on addressing issues over the past few years and has made exciting gameplay mechanic adjustments that have garnered anticipation among many players.

Compared to previous updates, the patch for Halo Infinite released on October 26, 2023, brought about limited changes. However, these changes were still well-received by certain players. Notably, the update addressed the issue of framerate restriction that gamers encountered when activating Vsync on monitors with a refresh rate of 120Hz or higher.

The October update for Halo Infinite improved stability in the Customize menus and resolved a decrease in game performance when multiple objects or prefabs were selected in Forge Edit mode. Additionally, certain display issues with the UTIL/PRO-Tek ComNet-2020 Shoulder Pads and TAC/SCM-P Knee Pads for the Mirage IIC Armor Core were addressed.

Although some issues could not be fixed in the October patch, they have been acknowledged and added to the list of known issues in Halo Infinite. One particularly pressing concern for many players is the extended loading times caused by a recent Nvidia driver update. Currently, the only solution is to revert back to a previous version of the graphics drivers.

Halo Infinite October 2023 Patch Notes

The events of Halo Infinite's campaign unfold in 2560, following the aftermath of Halo 5: Guardians. In this new chapter, the UNSC (United Nations Space Command) finds itself faced with a rebellion led by Cortana and other renegade AI. Once again, players step into the shoes of Master Chief, a formidable supersoldier belonging to the UNSC, as he endeavors to bring down his former ally and prevent her from taking control of the entire galaxy.

The following changes were made in the October 26, 2023, patch.

Enabling Vsync on PCs with a refresh rate 120Hz or higher will no longer restrict the max framerate.

The UTIL/PRO-Tek ComNet-2020 Shoulder Pads and TAC/SCM-P Knee Pads for the Mirage IIC Armor Core is now displayed correctly. The ComNet and Erinyes bundles, which include these items, will be re-released for purchase through the Armor Hall menu next week. If you would like a Halo Support agent to contact you directly when these bundles are available again, please submit a ticket.

If you had already purchased either bundle when these items were being displayed incorrectly, the development team will reimburse you with the Credits you spent on buying the bundle. This reimbursement will not affect your ownership of the bundle contents. If you would like a Halo Support agent to contact you directly after this reimbursement is complete, please submit a ticket.

Improved stability in the Customize menus, such as the Armor Hall and Weapons Bench.

Selecting multiple objects or prefabs in Forge Edit mode now has less of an impact on game performance.

As an enthusiastic fan of the Halo franchise, I am thrilled to see that 343 Industries is actively addressing player feedback and working to improve the overall experience of Halo Infinite.
