Hades 2's Early Access Window: The Perfect Opportunity for Gamers!

When Hades was released in September 2020, it quickly gained widespread attention. Despite coming out unexpectedly, this indie game became one of the best of all time and was available on PC and Nintendo Switch. However, amidst the surprise, there existed a select group of fans who had known about Hades' potential for quite a while. Since its early access release in December 2018, many PC players had been enjoying Hades, and now, in 2024, they will have the opportunity to experience it all over again with Hades 2.

During last year's Game Awards, the announcement of Hades 2 revealed that it would directly continue the Greek mythology roguelike from Supergiant Games. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Hades 2 will first be released in early access for PC players. Just recently, Supergiant announced that the early access period for Hades 2 is expected to start sometime in Q2 2024. Although this may seem far off, it is likely the best decision to allow the game to truly shine on its own.

Hades 2 Has Timed its Early Access Perfectly

When Hades 2 was initially announced, there were strong rumors that the game would be available in early access before the end of 2023. While fans may be disappointed that the game is not meeting that rumored release window, it is actually for the best. The year 2023 has seen an overwhelming number of video game releases, with at least two major games coming out every month since the beginning of the year. And despite being just a few months away from the end of the year, the flow of game releases shows no signs of slowing down.

October 2023 stands out as the busiest month for video game releases this entire year, and possibly even in recent memory. Titles such as Assassin's Creed Mirage, Forza Motorsport, Lords of the Fallen, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Alan Wake 2, and Ghostrunner 2 are all scheduled to launch within days of each other, and that's just in October. While November and December may not be as jam-packed with releases, there are still some highly anticipated games set to drop before the year ends, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

The release train shows no signs of slowing down as we approach the end of 2023. In fact, it appears that early 2024 is shaping up to be an even busier period. January 2024 already has a packed lineup with games such as Alone in the Dark, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Tekken 8 scheduled for release. February also has its fair share of highly anticipated titles, including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Helldivers 2, and Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. And these are just the games with confirmed release dates. There are many more in the pipeline awaiting their official release dates, any of which could potentially overshadow Hades 2.

Fortunately, Hades 2 is set to launch in early access sometime between April and June 2024, which conveniently avoids the competition from the major releases in 2023 and early 2024. This gives Hades 2 a chance to attract the audience it deserves. While there is still a possibility of big games being released during Q2 2024, Hades 2 has managed to secure a prominent place in fans' minds months in advance.
