Gypsy Rose Blanchard celebrated Mother's Day by honoring all the strong and wonderful mother figures in her life, while also remembering her late mom, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard.
In a TikTok video posted on Sunday, May 12, Gypsy, 32, expressed her feelings by starting off with a message. She mentioned that she disabled the comments on the video because she wanted to avoid any negative comments. Gypsy made it clear that she didn't want to see any disrespectful comments in her feed. If anyone had anything negative to say about her, she suggested they do it on their own platform. Gypsy emphasized that she doesn't care about negative opinions directed towards her.
She continued to share, "Secondly, I can't help but notice that my own biological mother is not here to celebrate Mother's Day. On Mother's Day, I choose to think the best of her."
Dee Dee was tragically found dead at the age of 48 in their Mississippi home in June 2015, with multiple stab wounds. Gypsy was arrested shortly after along with her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. Gypsy later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 10-year prison sentence. After serving seven years, Gypsy was granted parole in September 2023 and released from prison in December 2023. (Godejohn, on the other hand, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.)

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, despite facing many challenges during her childhood, shared with her TikTok followers that she prefers to focus on the positive memories she had with Dee Dee.
Gypsy expressed that she chooses to think of her mother not based on what she did to her, but as a person. Despite not being the best mom, she was still her mom, and Gypsy believes that her feelings towards her, whether it be guilt, anger, grief, or resentment, are valid and personal. She feels that only her family and herself should have a say in their opinions about her mother, as they were the closest to her.
Dee Dee is thought to have suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a condition where a caregiver seeks attention through those under their care. Gypsy, under her mother's care, was led to believe she had various illnesses such as leukemia, muscular dystrophy, brain damage, seizures, and vision and hearing impairments. Dee Dee even went so far as to make Gypsy use a wheelchair and feeding tube.
In her almost nine-minute video, Gypsy shared that she has been focusing on learning forgiveness for many years. She mentioned that she chooses to remember her mother for the goodness she believes was in her heart. Gypsy expressed her hope that her mother is in heaven and that she is proud of some of the accomplishments Gypsy has achieved in her life. Gypsy emphasized the importance of personal growth, independence, and learning from life experiences. She believes that in heaven, her mother is free from the mental struggles she faced, leaving behind a kind-hearted individual.
After mentioning her mom, Gypsy had a message for her stepmother, Kristy Blanchard, boyfriend Ken Urker’s mom, Raina Williams, and a family friend who she calls Aunt Vickie.
Gypsy also mentioned that she will keep her mother in her prayers, ending with, “I will always remember the good that was in her.”
