Contestant Lee Gwan-hee has failed to win over fans in Season 3 of Single's Inferno due to a rude remark in Episode 4 that rubbed all the female contestants the wrong way.
Despite being in the early stages of the Korean dating reality series on Netflix, the cast has already sparked significant drama. This season brings a more dynamic and exciting change to the rules, Paradise, and Inferno compared to the previous season.
Professional basketball player Lee Gwan-hee, a "celebrity" contestant, expressed interest in both Hye-seon and Ha-jeong, with Ha-jeong making a strong impression with her flirting techniques. However, a remark made by Gwan-hee in Single’s Inferno Season 3 Episode 4 angered all the female contestants and disappointed fans, who felt he had disrespected them.
Single’s Inferno: Gwan-hee openly revealed who he’s interested in
The cast sat around a campfire on the beach in Episode 4 to drink, talk, and play games after using lemon candies to vote for the person they are interested in.
Gwan-hee confessed to only giving away one of his attractions, surprising those who thought he was interested in both Ha-jeong and Hye-seon. The question arose: who was the other woman? When Min-woo asked him who he liked the most, Gwan-hee admitted to having three people in mind. It was revealed that he wanted to get to know Gyu-ri, but the way he had revealed his interest left a bad impression. Ha-bin felt it was only fair for Gwan-hee to disclose the identities of the women if he was "equally interested" in all three.
Gwan-hee angered the contestants and the hosts by referring to the women as "this one" and "that one," prompting Ha-bin to chastise him for not using their names. Kyuhyun from Super Junior stated that his comment had "crossed the line." #SinglesInferno3

A fan on Twitter/X concurred, stating, "Referring to the girls as 'this one' or 'that one,' especially with Gwan-hee, is crossing the line. The girls are genuinely upset. They've had it."
Gwanhee needs to realize that it's not just about accepting someone's personality, but also about being more aware of social cues and showing basic manners. Is he really oblivious enough to just refer to people as "this one/that one"? #SinglesInferno3pic.twitter.com/RTFxV0C5wH
One fan remarked, "Gwan-hee needs to realize that his behavior is not acceptable and that he needs to be more considerate of others." The female contestants received support from fans after expressing their disapproval of Gwan-hee's comment. They all agreed that it was wrong of him and saw it as a warning sign. Gyu-ri was particularly upset after speaking to him and hearing his accusations of her avoiding him. She expressed her indifference towards him to the others. Hye-seon also felt that she was being treated as a backup plan by Gwan-hee.
This girl code is peak! I adore my girls so much. My friends are sharing the latest gossip with eo and unanimously agree that Gwanhee is a major red flag. Hyeseon also believes she's just his backup plan, just like Hajeong thinks! #SinglesInferno3Ep5 #SinglesInferno3 #솔로지옥3 pic.twitter.com/1huNBweyRh

“This is the ultimate girl code and I love it so much! My girls are really speaking their minds about Gwan-hee and all of them agree that he’s a major red flag. Hye-seon and Hajeong both feel like they’re being treated as backup plans, and I love how all the women came together to express their frustration and offense by Gwanhee. I admire how these women know they deserve better and won’t settle for being anyone’s second choice. #SinglesInferno3” - a fan commented.
Another person commented, “I admire how the girls set aside their competitive mindset and came together to voice their frustration and disappointment with gwanhee. It's empowering to see women stand up for themselves and refuse to be treated as mere options or backup plans.”

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan of Single's Inferno, I am deeply disappointed and frustrated by Gwan-hee's disrespectful behavior towards the female contestants. His remark in Episode 4, referring to the women as "this one" and "that one," is not only rude and dismissive but also reflects a lack of basic manners and social awareness. It is unacceptable for him to treat potential love interests in such a disrespectful manner.
I believe that Gwan-hee needs to take responsibility for his actions and apologize to the female contestants for his hurtful words. He should understand that his behavior is not only disrespectful to the women involved but also sets a negative example for viewers. As a public figure, he has a responsibility to conduct himself in a respectful and considerate manner. I hope that he will learn from this experience and make a genuine effort to improve his behavior in the future.
