Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to launch in the next 20 months, according to Take-Two Interactive's recent earnings call. This timeframe coincides with earlier reports from insider sources and the company's financial projections.
Grand Theft Auto 6 may be released in late 2024, coinciding with the end of Take-Two's fiscal year 2025 in March. Take-Two's expectation of a noteworthy development in fiscal 2025 suggests the potential release of Grand Theft Auto 6 within that period.
Take-Two Interactive has given further confirmation that Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch within the next 20 months. This information was revealed during the company's latest earnings call, where Take-Two also defended the pricing of the Red Dead Redemption Switch port.
The upcoming installment in this popular series is currently slated for release in Take-Two's fiscal year 2025, concluding in March 2025. These rumors about the release window for Grand Theft Auto 6 are supported by recent insider reports and Take-Two's own financial forecasts, which consistently indicate that the company is expecting a significant increase in revenue during the upcoming fiscal year.
The publisher, during its August 8 earnings call for the first quarter of fiscal year 2024, has restated its expectation. According to CEO Strauss Zelnick, the company has strategically positioned itself for a "significant turning point in fiscal 2025." In further detail, Zelnick anticipates "unprecedented levels of operational success" between March 2024 and March 2025. This has sparked speculation among industry analysts that Grand Theft Auto 6 may be slated for release within this timeframe.
The game's launch window is subject to change, as analysts misinterpreted a Take-Two forecast from early 2022 as a sign that GTA 6 would be released by March 2024. However, given that the game has not been officially announced and Take-Two tends to have lengthy marketing campaigns, it is highly unlikely that this prediction will come true.
Assuming that Grand Theft Auto 6 is indeed aiming for a release in Take-Two's fiscal year 2025, it is plausible that the game will hit the market towards the end of 2024. This aligns with the historical pattern of previous 3D entries in the franchise, which were typically released in October. Furthermore, a recent leak from a reliable Rockstar insider supports this timeline, suggesting that GTA 6 is targeting a holiday 2024 release. However, the game may still face delays due to Rockstar's difficulties in retaining developer talent caused by their mandatory return-to-office policy implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Take-Two is currently informing investors to anticipate an exceptionally profitable fiscal year 2025, which raises hopes for the long-awaited release of GTA 6. With annual revenue of $5.35 billion and only one IP capable of driving such exponential growth, it is clear that the game is currently being developed.
