Hackers recently infiltrated the single-player story mode of a Grand Theft Auto 5 player. While the game offers both a vast single-player campaign and an expansive online multiplayer mode, these two experiences are typically kept separate. In fact, the developer has even released a standalone version of the online mode to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted experience for players. However, the open-world nature of the game has attracted a fair share of griefers in the online mode, making it a target for those looking to ruin others' enjoyment. Unfortunately, these hackers managed to breach the single-player mode, causing disruption for unsuspecting players.
A Reddit user by the name of LUClFER666 recently experienced a concerning phenomenon while playing Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC. He recorded video evidence of player-controlled characters intruding into his single-player story mode and repeatedly killing his character, ultimately hindering his ability to complete the mission. While it's uncertain if this issue exists in other versions of the game, it's not the first time this has happened in the PC version. Although it's not a widespread problem, it's still unsettling that it's possible at all.
The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6 has generated a lot of speculation around how Rockstar Games will address the issue of griefing. While leaks have hinted at the inclusion of a male and female protagonist, as well as the return to Vice City, official details on the game have been scarce. It is expected that Grand Theft Auto 6 will offer an online multiplayer mode, but it remains to be seen how it will differ from the current GTA Online and how it will address the problem of griefing. Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
