In an interview with TV Insider, Jason George, who plays Ben Warren, advised viewers to have champagne and tissues ready because it will be a memorable event. Co-showrunner Zoanne Clack also mentioned that the finale will have a satisfying ending.
"We aimed to honor the show's authenticity and beauty while moving it forward," she said. "We wanted to emphasize the sense of community and pass it on. Our goal is for all the positivity we bring to the world to continue."
George, filled with emotion, wants the final installment to still captivate audiences like the show always has. "I hope it sparks discussions and addresses tough issues responsibly," he expressed about the series' impact. "Hopefully, it encourages people to revisit and discuss those topics because the problems still exist."
ABC shared in December 2023 that Station 19 would conclude with a shortened season 7. Shonda Rhimes, an executive producer of the show, expressed her gratitude for the show's unforgettable journey on Instagram. The emotional final table read of the show led to tears flowing among the cast members. A video shared by Stefania Spampinato on Station 19's official Instagram page on May 21 captured this heartfelt moment.
"We were all in tears," shared the actress, 41. "Peter [Paige] was emotional the entire time, but that's nothing new - he's always crying."
The scene then shifted to a video of the cast reading the last episode, showing a room filled with raw emotions. Spampinato sat beside her co-star and on-screen partner, Danielle Savre, who offered comfort as she shed tears. Despite managing to hold back her own tears during the reading, Savre, 35, expressed deep gratitude for the experiences and memories the show had provided her over its seven seasons.
Savre expressed her gratitude for the seven incredible years and 100 episodes of the show. She mentioned that not many shows are able to achieve such milestones and that they have created many unforgettable memories.
Spampinato shared her perspective on the ending of Station 19, stating that she doesn't view it as the final chapter of the series, which had a successful run of seven seasons.
"I feel like maybe it’s not a full goodbye, maybe it’s like till soon,” she explained. “Let’s leave it at that. No goodbyes.”
Savre shared her feelings about the cast's final days during an interview with TV Insider. "It’s going to be sad no matter what the final episode is,” she said. “I am going to be bawling my eyes out. I was bawling my eyes out multiple times [on the last day of filming]. I think we all were.”
She added, “The only way you can really prepare is to hopefully embrace the last episode and what the writers really gave our fans.”
