Greta Gerwig, 40, and Noah Baumbach, 54, have recently gotten married at New York City Hall after being together for 12 years. A representative for Gerwig confirmed the news to People on Wednesday, December 20.
Page Six was the first to confirm the news, stating that the couple celebrated their wedding at Billy Joel's concert at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, December 19. They were photographed backstage with Joel and his wife, Alexis Roderick, and were also seen in the crowd, seated on the floor and singing along to the show. The couple first met in 2010 when Gerwig starred in Baumbach's film Greenberg. Baumbach was still married to Jennifer Jason Leigh at the time and they split in 2010 after five years together before he moved on with Gerwig the following year.
In 2012, as their relationship continued to grow, the couple collaborated on their first joint project to write Frances Ha. It wasn't until 2018, at the Golden Globes, that they made their red carpet debut together.
Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig attended a Billy Joel performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 19, 2023. In March 2019, it was confirmed that Gerwig and Baumbach had a son named Harold. Additionally, in July, Gerwig shared that she and Baumbach welcomed their second child earlier in the year.
Gerwig provided a glimpse into their relationship during an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden in January 2020, disclosing that she and Baumbach weren't particularly fond of using labels to define their relationship.

"‘Boyfriend’ makes it sound like I just met him last week," Gerwig expressed. "‘Lover’ is disgusting. And ‘fiancé’ makes it sound like there’s an imminent wedding. So, none of it works."
