Along the way, he dispatches numerous transfigured humans until he encounters Mahito. Nanami realizes his fate and has a vision of his old friend Yu Haibara, who gestures toward Yuji arriving on the scene.

Yuji, who is already devastated by the situation in Shibuya, witnesses Nanami being blown to pieces by Mahito’s technique. Nanami’s final words to Yuji are, “You’ve got it from here.”

The anime-only scene depicts Nanami's idyllic life in Malaysia, a life he never had the chance to experience. After the tragic death of Yu Haibara during his second year of high school, Nanami was left devastated. The callousness of those in power who took the life of such a pure-hearted individual, and the harsh reality of the Jujutsu world, proved to be too much for anyone to bear.

Nanami left the cursed world behind to pursue a corporate job, only to find himself living a meaningless life. After a few years, he returned to his sorcerer ways, never having experienced true freedom. He had never planned to marry, knowing that being a sorcerer meant facing the possibility of death any day.

As Nanami reflects on his life in Malaysia, the manga (Chapter 120) only shows scenes of beaches. However, in the anime, Nanami is depicted smiling and living his dream life in Malaysia. It is a bittersweet sight, as we know it is only a beautiful but unattainable dream.
