Scottie Scheffler and his wife, Meredith Scheffler, have welcomed their first baby shortly after Scottie's victory at the 2024 Masters.

"Welcome to the world, little one. Your mom and dad adore you," Scottie, 27, shared on Instagram on Monday, May 13.

Scottie informed reporters at the PGA Tournament on Monday that his son Bennett was born on May 8, as reported by the Associated Press. Meredith's pregnancy became public knowledge in March when she was seen with a baby bump while supporting Scottie at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

"It's going to be pretty wild," he said. "I don't think it's hit either of us quite yet, maybe sometime when the baby is moving around in her stomach a bunch, but it's an exciting time for us as a family. It's been a pretty exciting last seven months or so and we're looking forward to hopefully getting the baby out of there nice and healthy and with a healthy momma and then we'll go from there."

Meredith was unable to attend when Scottie competed in the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, in April. Scottie confessed that it was "a bit weird" for him.

My mom is my biggest supporter, and I really miss having her around. Despite that, it's an exciting time for us right now. I'm grateful that she's still at home and feeling good.

Scottie shared that despite their upcoming addition being close, they were not fully prepared for the arrival of their little one. They got married in December 2020 after meeting in high school.

He shared that when asked about their baby preparations, he admitted feeling a bit underprepared. The nursery is not fully set up yet, and they have been dealing with some household issues recently. Despite the lack of readiness, he finds the anticipation of becoming parents exciting.

Scottie clinched the 2024 Masters title, adding to his first victory in 2022 and becoming a two-time champion. Prior to the tournament, he expressed his readiness to leave at a moment's notice if Meredith went into labor. He assured that someone had access to his phone and he would be available to rush home whenever needed.

After winning against his competitors, Scottie had a sweet message for his wife. He told Golf Digest, "I love you, sweetheart. I'm looking forward to the upcoming weeks. Hopefully, I'll be able to get home quickly." He then mentioned, "I'll be heading home soon."

Scottie recently mentioned that he will be focusing more on being a parent than on his career in the near future. He expressed his happiness about his upcoming first child and shared his plans after winning a recent event. According to USA Today, Scottie said, "I will go home, celebrate this victory tonight. I am looking forward to the birth of my first child. Even though I enjoy competing, my priorities will soon change. My main focus will be on my son or daughter and my wife, so golf will take a back seat."

Despite his shifting responsibilities, Scottie concluded: “But I still love competing. I don’t plan on taking my eye off the ball anytime soon, that’s for sure.”
