The Gintama stage occurred on December 17, 2023, at 9:30 am JST, marking the debut of the anime on the Blue stage and lasting for approximately 30 minutes. The panel featured Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki Sakata), Rie Kugimiya (Kagura), and Daisuke Sakaguchi (Shinpachi Shimura), who opened the event with warm greetings and appreciation for the fans in attendance.

To kick things off, the voice actors hosted an entertaining Gintama quiz that involved both the live audience and the online viewers. Additionally, the beloved mascot of the show, Elizabeth, made a special appearance, holding its customary sign, adding to the fun and excitement of the event.

Elizabeth is undeniably one of the most iconic characters from the anime, and her appearance generated a lot of excitement among fans.

Following that, there was a special appearance by Fumihiko Tachiki, the voice actor for Taizo Hasegawa, who warmly greeted his fellow voice actors and fans. He even took the time to bake some special 'Elizabeth cookies', and even presented one on stage.

Exciting news! The celebration of Gintama's 20th anniversary includes an original exhibition titled 'Hatachi no Gathering', set to take place in Ikebukuro Sunshine City in Winter 2024. Plus, a free public campaign for Volume 40 of the Gintama series is scheduled for December 18, 2023, in honor of the milestone anniversary. #Gintama20thAnniversary

The most anticipated announcement was the reveal of a new spinoff of the series, titled 3rd Year Z Group Ginpachi Sensei. Despite the lack of a key visual or new trailer for the upcoming anime, leaving many fans disappointed, a 2025 release date was confirmed. In addition, a new popularity poll for the anime has been announced, generating excitement among fans.

Finally, the voice actors unveiled a letter from the mangaka, Hideaki Sorachi. Instead of the expected gratitude, Sorachi playfully thanked the fans for allowing him to "take their money" until the very end.

Afterwards, in typical Gintama style, he made a nod to the beloved character Kento Nanami from the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. The voice actors then concluded the stage by expressing gratitude to the fans for their ongoing support. This marked the beginning of the Blue Stage of Jump Festa 2024, which will be followed by the Bleach stage.

Editor's P/S

As a hard fan of Gintama, I am thrilled about the announcement of the Ginpachi Sensei spinoff anime. The original series holds a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to see what new adventures Gintoki and the gang will get up to. While I'm disappointed that we didn't get a key visual or teaser trailer at Jump Festa 2024, I understand that the production team wants to keep things under wraps for now. I'm confident that they'll deliver something amazing when the time is right.

The panel discussion and appearance of Elizabeth, the beloved mascot of the show, were great ways to kick off the day. It was heartwarming to see the voice actors interact with each other and the fans, and it reminded me of why I love Gintama so much. The series has such a strong sense of community, and it's clear that the cast and crew are just as passionate about it as the fans are. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Gintama, and I'm confident that the Ginpachi Sensei spinoff will be a worthy addition to the franchise.
