Geto Suguru was once a beloved character in Jujutsu Kaisen, but his story took a dark turn in the Hidden Inventory arc of Season 2. This led to him betraying his friends and comrades at Jujutsu High. In the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Geto met his end at the hands of his former friend Satoru Gojo after battling Yuta Okkotsu. Despite this, fans were surprised to see Geto alive and well in Season 1, leading to confusion.
Spoiler alert for Jujutsu Kaisen manga! In the latest season of the anime, it was revealed that the body in possession of Geto belonged to an ancient sorcerer named Kenjaku, who had sinister intentions for using it. Despite this, fans speculated whether Geto would return in some form after the conclusion of Season 2. Reader discretion is advised.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Will Geto Suguru return to the story after Season 2 of the anime?
Geto Suguru is undeniably one of Jujutsu Kaisen's most beloved characters. Fans have eagerly awaited his return to the story, and while it'll be some time before he shows up in the anime, the manga recently brought him back, though indirectly.
After Geto's death at the hands of Satoru Gojo, the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku took possession of his body. Throughout the series, he used Geto's body to carry out his plan to seal Gojo in the Prison Realm. However, in chapter 243 of the manga, Yuta Okkotsu surprised everyone by attacking Kenjaku and slashing off his head.
Thereby, it is seemingly impossible for Geto to return to the story directly, seeing as to how his body cannot be used further by Kenjaku after being decapitated.
Thankfully, Geto briefly appeared in chapter 236 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, although it was in a vision of the afterlife experienced by Gojo. After being injured by Sukuna, Gojo had a vision of an airport where all the significant people in his life were gathered, including Geto. Geto was the first to greet Gojo in the afterlife, and the two had a conversation reminiscing about old times. During their conversation, Gojo confessed that his biggest regret in life was that Geto wasn't there to support him during the most important battle of his life.
The heartwarming reunion between Geto and his best friend brought joy to readers, but also served as a poignant reminder of their permanent departure from the story.
As this scene occurs later in the manga, fans of the character can anticipate his appearance in a potential Season 4 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. However, it's also possible that MAPPA may include a brief flashback featuring Geto Suguru, given his popularity.
Geto Suguru remains one of the pivotal figures in the narrative, and his tragic demise continues to resonate with fans. Although his comeback seems unlikely, his role in the Hidden Inventory arc is deeply valued by enthusiasts globally.
Editor's P/S
As a hard fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, I was devastated when Geto Suguru betrayed his friends and comrades at Jujutsu High. He was one of my favorite characters, and I couldn't believe that he had turned to the dark side. I was even more shocked when he was killed by Satoru Gojo in the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0. I thought that was the end of Geto, but then he showed up alive and well in Season 1, and I was confused.
I was excited when I heard that Geto might return in some form after the conclusion of Season 2. I was hoping that he would be able to redeem himself and come back to the side of good. However, I was disappointed when I found out that the body in possession of Geto belonged to an ancient sorcerer named Kenjaku. I was even more disappointed when Yuta Okkotsu killed Kenjaku and decapitated Geto's body. It seems like Geto is gone for good this time, and I'm really sad about that.
