Publisher GameMill Entertainment has officially confirmed the release of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 for this year. After numerous rumors and leaks, developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs unveiled an announcement trailer, providing fans with a sneak peek of what to anticipate.
Platform brawlers like All-Star Brawl may not have gained significant popularity in the gaming world, but there has been a noticeable increase in interest in this subgenre recently. Despite the lack of updates from the studio since the release of All-Star Brawl, rumors about a potential sequel, including character additions like Squidward from SpongeBob and Raphael from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, have been circulating more frequently. In response to these rumors, the developer has decided to release an official teaser to generate excitement.
GameMill has announced that All-Star Brawl 2 will come with new SUPER abilities, revamped mechanics, and fresh offensive and defensive options. The publisher promises an innovative approach to platform fighting gameplay, complete with a single-player campaign that incorporates rogue-like elements into an original story. In addition to these features, the new game will also include minigames, a boss rush mode, and a new arcade mode. The addition of full crossplay for all platforms and enhanced graphics is sure to entice players. While an exact release date has not been disclosed yet, All-Star Brawl 2 is scheduled to launch later this year on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
Currently, the official website for All-Star Brawl 2 features a roster including beloved characters such as Spongebob, Squidward, Rocko, Jenny, Zim, Reptar, and Garfield. However, it is expected that the full roster will include even more characters from its own franchises. Leaks for All-Star Brawl 2 have suggested that characters like El Tigre and Vlad Plasmius from Danny Phantom will also make an appearance. Based on the announcement trailer, it is clear that GameMill's platform brawler will not be lacking in recognizable characters, and it is likely that more character announcements will be made in the future.
Interestingly, GameMill is not solely focused on the Nickelodeon universe. The publisher is also working on Dreamworks All-Star Kart Racing, which will mark the return of beloved character Shrek to the gaming world after more than a decade. This game will also feature other Dreamworks characters, including Puss in Boots, Po, Tigress from the Kung Fu Panda series, and more.
