Game Of Thrones Creators' New Netflix Series Adds The Last Of Us & GLOW Actors
Get ready for a star-studded adventure in the upcoming Netflix series by the creators of Game of Thrones. The cast includes familiar faces from The Last Of Us and GLOW, promising an electrifying experience in Death by Lightning.
According to Variety, two new cast members have been announced to join the upcoming Netflix show Death by Lightning. Produced by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the series is based on the novel Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard.
Nick Offerman and Betty Gilpin are the latest additions to the cast of Death by Lightning. Gilpin will portray First Lady Crete Garfield, the wife of U.S. president James Garfield, while Offerman will take on the role of Chester A. Arthur, the vice president who became president after Garfield's assassination.

Offerman and Gilpin are not the first cast members announced for Death by Lightning. Previously announced to be joining the cast were Matthew Macfadyen and Michael Shannon. Shannon will be playing the lead role of President Garfield and Macfadyen will play his assassin, Charles Guiteau.
This leading cast for Death by Lightning brings with it vast TV experience. Offerman and Macfadyen are both recent Emmy winners, for their roles in The Last of Us and Succession, respectively. Gilpin is also an Emmy nominee, playing the acclaimed role of Debbie “Liberty Belle” Eagan in GLOW. More typically a film actor, Shannon is a celebrated actor in his own right, having been nominated for Oscars for Revolutionary Road and Nocturnal Animals.
Death by Lightning, created by Mike Makowsky, does not yet have a release date.
The esteemed cast of Death by Lightning is joined by a talented team including Benioff and Weiss, creators of Game of Thrones. Executive produced by Mike Makowsky, the show will also have Matt Ross directing all episodes.
