Blizzard's president recently stated that there are no official intentions to release Diablo 4 on Game Pass, despite its immense success. Many gamers were hopeful that with Microsoft's impending acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the popular action RPG title would reach an even wider audience. Today, Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley’s decision rejecting the FTC's attempt to prevent the deal's completion in the United States marks a significant milestone for Microsoft in its pursuit of acquiring Activision.
Blizzard president Mike Ybarra recently addressed the possibility of Diablo 4 being available on Xbox Game Pass via Twitter. He dismissed a previous leak as false and confirmed that Diablo 4 is not currently coming to Xbox Game Pass. However, Ybarra emphasized that no one can predict the future, suggesting that there is a chance for Diablo 4 to eventually join Game Pass. The decision ultimately rests with the upper management of both Microsoft and Blizzard, and there have been no concrete plans made at this time.
While obtaining permission to finalize the deal in the United States marked a major achievement for Microsoft, there are still a few obstacles to overcome before the acquisition is fully completed. One such hurdle is the initial rejection of the Activision deal by the British CMA. Without this approval, Microsoft's progress in the United Kingdom is hindered, which could potentially jeopardize the entire arrangement due to the presence of both companies' studios in the country, as well as its significance as a market. However, the CMA has recently issued a statement expressing its willingness to consider Microsoft's proposals aimed at addressing its concerns. Hence, there appears to be hope on the horizon for Diablo 4 fans eager to see it on Xbox Game Pass. Nonetheless, they will need to be patient and await developments in the coming months. Currently, Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
