Everything We Know About Futurama Season 8
The trailer introduces the well-known characters, Philip J. Fry (Billy West), Turanga Leela (Katey Sagal), and Bender (John DiMaggio), as they navigate their way through a newfound world following a disruption in the course of time. This cleverly alludes to their ten-year absence from the airwaves. As the trailer unfolds, we witness the familiar crew traversing through space, encountering the classic hijinks of Futurama, along with fresh themes that have emerged in the past decade.Hulu announced the 10-episode reboot in February 2022, with a weekly release starting on July 24. The original creators, Groening and David X. Cohen, returned to lead the project, bringing along familiar faces. Several episodes were written by Futurama writing room veterans, ensuring the same beloved mix of raunchy yet clever humor from the earlier iterations of the series.
DiMaggio has overcome early contract negotiation issues to reprise his role as the surly robot Bender. The latest trailer also confirmed the return of fan-favorite characters such as Professor Fransworth, Hermes Conrad, Dr. Zoidberg, and Amy Wong. Additionally, the reboot will pay tribute to the late Coolio, as Kwanzaa-bot returns.
The new season's episode titles have already been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the topics the revived Futurama series will explore. With titles like "Rage Against The Vaccine," "Zapp Gets Canceled," and "The Impossible Stream," it's evident that the show will provide its unique interpretation of contemporary issues such as the pandemic, cancel culture, the rise of streaming platforms, and more.
