JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers reveal the struggles they faced after 'The Bachelorette' and how they have overcome them to co-host 'The Big D' Their candidness about their 'tough' first year is inspiring

JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers, known for their successful relationship from reality TV, are bringing a fresh perspective to a new show about divorce called The Big D. While some may find it ironic, the couple believes that their experience and platform can help break the negative stigma associated with divorce. They hope to show viewers that divorce can be the start of something new and that it's possible to find love and healthy relationships with your ex.

Six former couples, who have been divorced for varying lengths of time, come together in a villa in Costa Rica to pursue dating each other. The show, titled The Big D, showcases the cast participating in relationship “EX-ercises” to help them make new connections while also finding peace with their former spouse. Each episode features an elimination of a contestant who is deemed “not relationship material.” The show aims to inspire those who may feel like it's “over for them” or that “it’s never gonna be the same” after a divorce, by showcasing that love can still be found even after a failed marriage.

During his time on The Bachelorette, Rodgers offered some advice to his fellow contestants, emphasizing the importance of focusing on oneself as much as on the relationship. He explained that he believed JoJo was his future wife from the start and had to maintain his confidence in their connection in order to not be affected by the outside noise and distractions of the competition. He encouraged others to do the same, reminding them that while the experience may be crazy and challenging, it is possible to make it work by focusing on personal growth and the one relationship they want to pursue.

Rodgers and Fletcher's engagement on the 2016 finale of the ABC show was just the beginning of their journey together. Despite facing some challenges during their first year as a couple, which included working together, they were able to overcome them with flying colors. In fact, working on set together only seemed to strengthen their relationship, as they thrive in that environment. However, their latest project, The Big D, was a different experience altogether, as it involved watching past relationships and engaging in relationship talk. This prompted them to have little mini therapy sessions with the show's relationship expert, Dr. Jada Jackson, which helped them grow even more as a couple.

Although their wedding was delayed due to the pandemic, Rodgers and Fletcher went ahead and filmed The Big D before their actual wedding day. The couple is excited for viewers to watch the show and see how their love story unfolded.

Rodgers shared an example of a couple who had been together for 16 years, high school sweethearts who were married. Initially, one person was eager to reconcile while the other was ready to move on. However, once they entered the house, the dynamics changed. This shift in perception is what makes the show intriguing. It's fascinating to observe how people's feelings and opinions about their past relationships can evolve once they're confronted with them again. Even those who were convinced they would never reunite with their ex might have a change of heart once they're in the same space. The Big D will premiere on USA Network on June 14th at 10 p.m. ET.
