Fortnite OG Smashes All-Time Player Records Upon Release

Fortnite's much-anticipated return to its original island saw an unprecedented surge of players, shattering all previous records and igniting excitement among the game's loyal fanbase

Last week, Epic Games brought back the original island arena from 2018 for a month-long Fortnite OG season. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with the company reporting record-breaking numbers for both unique user counts and playing hours in the first 24 hours of the new season.

In just one day, over 44.7 million users logged into Fortnite OG, making it the most popular day in the game's five-year history, according to Epic. These players collectively spent a staggering 102 million hours playing, setting yet another all-time record.

According to Circana industry analyst Mat Piscatella, the latest data from Circana's Player Engagement Tracker reveals some impressive statistics. On November 3rd, 38% of all active Xbox players and 33% of active PlayStation players participated in Fortnite. These are the highest percentages for Fortnite since tracking began in June 2020. Furthermore, Piscatella disclosed that Xbox players spent an average of 195 minutes playing Fortnite on that day, while PlayStation players spent an average of 204 minutes during the same 24-hour period.

The Fortnite OG season takes players back to the origins of the battle royale game, incorporating weapons, locations, and other elements from Fortnite's first chapter. Throughout the season, the island will undergo weekly changes that reference past seasons from Fortnite's history. However, the impact of this journey into the past on the overall Fortnite story remains undisclosed.

Fortnite can be downloaded on various platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices. The season will continue until December 2nd.

As a hard fan of Fortnite, I am thrilled to see the return of the original island arena. The nostalgia factor is real, and it's been a blast playing on the old map again. The new weapons and locations are also a lot of fun, and I'm excited to see how the island changes over the course of the season.

The record-breaking numbers that Fortnite OG has achieved are a testament to the game's enduring popularity. It's clear that Epic Games has done a great job of keeping the game fresh and exciting, even after five years. I'm confident that Fortnite will continue to be a major force in the gaming world for years to come.
