Editor's P/S:

The selection of Garry Conille as Haiti's interim Prime Minister during the transition period signals a cautious approach by the Transitional Presidential Council. Conille's previous tenure as Prime Minister, albeit brief, suggests a familiarity with the challenges facing the nation. However, his current role as UNICEF Regional Director raises questions about his availability and commitment to Haitian affairs.

The council's unanimous choice of Conille underscores the need for stability and continuity during this delicate time. Haiti has been grappling with political instability, economic hardships, and a devastating earthquake. Conille's experience in both governance and international development could prove invaluable in navigating these complex issues. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen whether he can effectively balance his international obligations with the urgent needs of his homeland.
