Five Nights At Freddy's Film Soars to Unprecedented Success at Box Office

Five Nights At Freddy's Movie terrifies audiences, smashing box office records as the second highest-grossing video game adaptation ever with its spine-chilling PG-13 horror

Five Nights at Freddy's defied lackluster reviews and simultaneous streaming on Peacock, as it achieved a record-breaking weekend at the box office. The PG-13 horror film, based on the highly popular video game franchise launched in 2014, premiered with an astounding global earnings of over $130 million. This surpasses the previous record set by Blumhouse's 2018 Halloween film, which earned $91.8 million. Not only that, but Five Nights at Freddy's also claimed the title of this year's highest-grossing horror film worldwide, surpassing The Nun 2, which earned $88.1 million. Additionally, it secured the record for the best opening weekend for a PG-13 horror movie (previously held by 2001's The Mummy Returns) and the second-largest opening weekend for a video game adaptation.

Director Emma Tammi holds the record for helming the highest-grossing horror film opening directed by a woman. Five Nights at Freddy's marks her third collaboration with Blumhouse, following Into the Dark: Delivered and Election Day: Lens Across America. Tammi has previously revealed that The Joker and Steven Spielberg served as inspirations for Five Nights at Freddy's.

Five Nights at Freddy's dominated the domestic box office with an impressive estimated opening of $78 million, securing the top spot. Taylor Swift: Eras Tour continued to draw audiences, earning $14.7 million, while Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon contributed an additional $9 million.

Editor's P/S

1. Five Nights at Freddy's is a huge success! It's the second highest-grossing video game adaptation ever, and it's also the highest-grossing horror film of the year. This is a great achievement for the film, especially considering that it received lackluster reviews and was simultaneously streaming on Peacock.

2. I'm really happy for the success of Five Nights at Freddy's. It's a great film, and it deserves all the success it's getting. I'm also glad that it's doing so well at the box office, because it shows that there's still an audience for PG-13 horror films. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.
