Despite previous reports, one star has confirmed that a sequel to the film Five Nights at Freddy's is in the works and will be happening as soon as possible.

According to a recent interview with Variety, actor Josh Hutcherson has stated that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be set into motion “as soon as possible.”

"They are currently finalizing the story and eager to start production as soon as possible," Hutcherson disclosed. "The fans are truly incredible and dedicated. It was an amazing and phenomenal experience for me to be a part of it.
"We were hopeful that it would resonate with audiences," he continued. "But even from our perspective, nobody expected it to connect the way it did. I can't wait to return to the set. Our director, Emma Tammi, was fantastic, and it was a joy to work in such a fun world. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have planned next."
Recently, there has been much speculation about the possibility of a sequel to Five Nights at Freddy's, with the production company Blumhouse discussing why the movie has not yet been approved. In an interview with Collider, executive producer Ryan Turek expressed gratitude for the first movie's success, but mentioned that they are still waiting for the green light to proceed with the sequel.
"After its massive success, it was only a matter of time. I'm honestly surprised it took them this long to officially announce it," one fan commented on X/Twitter in response to the news. "I think this is fantastic. Hopefully, they'll delve further into the horror aspect. I really enjoyed the animatronics," another fan agreed.
During the release of the original movie, director Emma Tammi spoke to Dexerto and expressed her hope for a sequel, saying "I'm really hopeful that we'll be able to make a sequel. And should we be able to, I think we would see our animatronics again. But I also think we would have some new friends to meet as well."
