Do not anticipate any further major patches for Cyberpunk 2077 following the release of update 2.1 on December 5. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that this will be "the last big update" for the action-RPG.
This announcement comes shortly after the surprise unveiling of the Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 last week. The patch introduces metro tourism, improved motorcycles, and changes to boss fights. A new trailer for the update also showcases the ability to listen to radio music while exploring Night City, as well as the addition of replayable car races. Additionally, it's worth noting that this update coincides with the release of the new Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.
CD Projekt Red previously announced that the focus would shift to developing a sequel for Cyberpunk 2077 after the release of the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty expansion. However, the studio hinted at "something more" at the time, likely referring to the upcoming 2.1 patch.
The substantial 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 was released in September, followed by the highly successful Phantom Liberty expansion. CD Projekt Red recently disclosed that 4.3 million copies of the expansion have been sold, and it received a rare 10/10 score in Our Website's Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty review.
The website includes a documentary that outlines how the troubled release of Cyberpunk 2077 resulted in significant changes at CD Projekt Red. Additionally, the studio recently revealed that a large team is now in development for The Witcher 4.

As a Gen Z fan, I am both excited and a bit sad about the news of the final major update for Cyberpunk 2077. On the one hand, I am thrilled that CD Projekt Red is already shifting its focus to the development of the sequel. The Phantom Liberty expansion was a huge success, and I can't wait to see what the studio has in store for us next. On the other hand, I am a bit sad to see the end of major updates for Cyberpunk 2077. I have spent countless hours exploring Night City and getting lost in its dark and gritty world. I will miss the opportunity to discover new content and secrets in the game.
Overall, I think this is a positive development for the Cyberpunk franchise. CD Projekt Red is clearly committed to supporting the game and its fans, and I am confident that the sequel will be even better than the original. In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy exploring Night City and all it has to offer.
