Tyra Banks, who is now 50 years old, shared celebratory photos on Instagram on Monday, December 4, to mark her milestone birthday. In the pictures, she can be seen posing next to a three-tier ice cream cake from her dessert business, Smize and Dream Ice Cream, with a radiant, makeup-free face and wearing a cozy gray robe.
"50. It's hard to believe I've been on this planet for fifty years," Banks wrote in the caption of the social media post. "I can still vividly remember my mom's 50th birthday party, celebrated in the grandest way possible. And now it's my turn." Banks continued to reflect on the experience of aging, acknowledging that the fear of getting older is completely understandable.
“Things are different now,” she said. “Our bodies. Our energy. Our minds. But let me tell you, my mind is STRONGER THAN EVER. Wise, baby. But still ... I believe we need to see aging and these major milestone years as, ‘I HAVE the privilege to be that age.’ A Blessing.”
Tyra Banks, sharing on her Instagram, expressed her hope for younger individuals to not only reach her age but to go beyond it, as she stated, "Because it feels so damn good." The former runway star also offered advice to her fans, encouraging them to not feel stuck, but to embrace change and growth over the years, saying, "You don’t have to stay stuck. You can start off doing one thing, and as the years go by, you switch that fish up."
Banks, speaking from her own experience, shared, "Yeah, I started in the fashion world and did the whole magazine covers, catwalks and couture thing and more but I have pivoted, baby. Again. You can 2. Can’t stop. Won’t stop. You hear me?!”
Going into more detail about her new interests, Banks revealed that she dedicates herself “7 days a week” to her ice cream venture, which she launched in 2021. “Because it’s not just about ice cream. It’s about inspiring people to make their dreams come true,” she added.

She also disclosed her current project—a graphic novel centered on the themes of age and dreams, infused with plenty of delectable ice cream, in alignment with Smize and Dream Ice Cream.

Banks concluded her post by encouraging her followers to pursue their dreams, asking, "Yeah, it's my birthday, but I want to know about YOU. What's YOUR DREAM? Don't ignore it."
In addition to expanding her business portfolio, Banks spends her free time as a devoted mother to her son York, who was born in January 2016. "I'm focused on instilling positive messages in him since I am his first role model in terms of beauty and embracing different types of women. We practice that a lot at home," Banks exclusively shared with We in March 2020. "I'm already teaching him."
