Fast X star Alan Ritchson has revealed that alternate Aimes scenes were filmed that would have drastically altered his character's relationship with Jason Momoa's villain. In the movie, directed by Louis Leterrier, Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto and his family face off against Dante, portrayed by Momoa. Ritchson's character, Aimes, is introduced as the head of the Agency, a spy organization formerly under the leadership of Kurt Russell's character, Mr. Nobody. However, in a surprise twist in the third act, it is revealed that Aimes has been working with Dante all along to thwart the Toretto crew.

In a recent interview with EW, Alan Ritchson, who played Aimes in Fast X, revealed that there was an alternate version of the story where Aimes and Jason Momoa's character were actually blood brothers. This familial connection would have been established from the beginning of the narrative, eliminating the need for a surprise reveal at the end. According to Ritchson, the brothers' genetic link played a significant role in their unity throughout the film.
"At the end of the day, the version of the film that made the cut revealed a surprising twist: there had been an alliance between the characters all along, casting doubt on who the true villain was. While there was a version in the editing room that differed from the final product, the decision was made to stick with the version that left audiences questioning the true motives of the characters. Despite the uncertainty, the actor portraying the character in question knew that there was a great deal of duplicity involved and that, for the time being, his character was indeed the antagonist. Only time will tell what the future holds for this enigmatic character."
Fast X Made The Right Call With Aimes & Dante
The theme of "family" has been a core element of the Fast & Furious franchise since its inception. This theme encompasses both blood relatives and the family members that have been acquired along the way. Dom's family has grown substantially since the first movie, and the franchise is renowned for its ability to bend and break the laws of physics during its action scenes. However, one of the most unbelievable elements of the series is the revelation in F9 that Diesel and John Cena's characters are brothers.
Including a dynamic between Momoa and Ritchson would not have worked as they do not resemble each other in the slightest. This inclusion would have made Fast X feel more like a soap opera rather than a blockbuster action movie. The surprise reveal that Aimes has been working with Dante all along adds another level of complexity to the film's world.
As Aimes and Dante are not related by blood, their individual goals may diverge as the Fast & Furious series reaches its conclusion. Aimes could potentially pursue his own objectives, even if it means not aligning with Dante. The role of Aimes in the upcoming Fast X sequels remains uncertain, but Ritchson's statement reinforces the idea that movies can undergo significant changes during the editing process.
