JoJoLands chapter 8: Laying low
JoJoLands chapter 8 kicks off in a bustling commercial district, a stark contrast to the previous setting. Here, we witness Jodio Joestar engaging in a conversation with a group of local swimmers. They extend an invitation for him to join them in a swimming session, only to retract it upon realizing he is accompanied by a group of individuals. As Jodio bids them farewell, a group of police officers approach, one of them making a move to retrieve their handcuffs.
However, it turned out to be a false alarm as the officers simply walked towards their nearby squad car. It was then disclosed that the team had two hours before their flight, so they decided to grab a meal to pass the time. Usagi Alohaoe approached Dragona Joestar, asking if he could borrow 20 dollars, but his request was ignored in order to address the dent on the car and figure out the necessary actions to resolve it.
In chapter 8 of JoJoLands, Usagi reassures everyone that there is no need to worry about the car, emphasizing that he is financially strapped until the job is done. Dragona inquires about Usagi's financial situation and his family's occupation. Usagi explains that his father used to work in construction until he tragically passed away after being hit by a bus. Since then, his mother has been surviving on the insurance money. Once again, Usagi asks Dragona for a loan of 20 dollars, leading Jodio to place a lava rock on top of the bill.

To determine how the lava rock selects what to attract or disregard, Usagi suggests conducting an experiment. Jodio proposes that the outcome could depend on the distance between the objects or even their physical contact. Another possibility is that the rock retains the memory of the object's owner. In order to test this theory, Usagi marks the 20 dollar bill gifted by Dragona, crumples it, and hurls it away.
In JoJoLands chapter 8, the cash briefly sits on the ground before being picked up by a passerby. This passerby then uses the bill to buy food. Dragona becomes angry with Usagi for losing the money and demands it back. Jodio proposes that the bill may not have had enough value. The group's food and drinks are brought back by Paco Lovelantes, but there is a problem when a fly lands in one of the drinks. As a result, Paco returns to the establishment to demand a new drink and a refund. Jodio, Dragona, and Paco then notice that he is holding a 20 dollar bill, which turns out to be the same marked bill that Usagi threw away. Dragona suggests testing the bill on something else and proposes that they split up and go into a luxury watch store nearby.

In Chapter 8 of JoJoLands, the characters engage in a heated discussion about the potential risks of their actions. JoJoLands expresses the belief that it is unwise to board the plane without properly understanding the nature and function of the rock. Dragona emphasizes that their intention is not to steal anything, but rather to learn more about the lava rock. Jodio raises concerns about the presence of cameras, but Dragona reassures him that their objective does not involve theft. Dragona proceeds to conceal the lava rock in his chest accessory's back pocket, selecting Usagi as his companion. Additionally, Dragona places the diamond in his wallet inside his bag. The narrator reiterates that "the JoJoLands" is a tale of a boy's journey towards immense wealth.
JoJoLands chapter 8 then witnesses the group's division - Usagi and Dragona venture into the store, whereas Jodio and Paco remain outside. Paco proposes fetching the car, but Jodio firmly states that they have no intention of stealing anything. Meanwhile, Dragona and Usagi delve into exploring the assortment of watches at the store.

Dragona attempts to retrieve the lava rock, but is interrupted by the store manager. The manager engages in the typical customer service routine, leading to Usagi humorously asking about the availability of digital "Polexes". After correcting Usagi to mean Rolex, the manager begins discussing case sizings, leaving Usagi confused and increasingly anxious.
In JoJoLands chapter 8, Usagi's attempt to access the back room prompts the manager to redirect him to the section for digital watches. Meanwhile, Dragona removes his bracelet to try on a watch, inadvertently revealing the diamond in his pocket. This discovery immediately alters the manager's attitude, and he offers to guide them to the back room where exclusive items are displayed.
He then invites them to sit on the comfortable couch and presents them with an exquisite collection of four watches, while graciously offering a variety of refreshing drinks. Dragona eagerly tries on different watches, enquiring about their features and intricacies, until the manager abruptly calls over the nearby security guards. Without missing a beat, he discreetly produces a remote control and effortlessly clicks a button, sealing the doors to the enigmatic back room with a definitive lock.
In JoJoLands chapter 8, the store manager respectfully asks them to return the stolen watch. Usagi denies taking anything, while Dragona is also confused. It is later discovered that one of the watches is missing, prompting Dragona to check the lava rock pocket. In a separate scene, Jodio and Paco sit down to eat, and Jodio hesitates to grab a burrito, sensing that they are being watched by someone who wants the lava rock back, possibly the owner of the cats.
Paco proceeds to delve into the food bag, unveiling the unexpected presence of the three cats that were encountered earlier. As the chapter concludes, Jodio and Paco prepare themselves for an imminent confrontation, accompanied by the announcement that the series will take a hiatus in the upcoming issue of Ultra Jump. Consequently, the eagerly anticipated next chapter will make its debut on Friday, November 17, 2023.
JoJoLands chapter 8: In summation
With the launch of Chapter 8 of JoJoLands, it appears that enthusiasts will witness their second intense Stand battle in the series, following the conflict with Rohan's Heaven's Door. Additionally, speculations arise among fans about the possibility of the character chasing Jodio's group being a homage to a previous installment in the series.
Nonetheless, the real worry arises from Dragona and Usagi's present predicament, in which they appear to have lost control over their lava rock experiment just as Jodio had predicted. Although there is still an opportunity for them to rectify the mistakes seemingly caused by the lava rock, the store manager is unlikely to grant them an indefinite timeframe for doing so.
