Prominent and influential content creator Kai Cenat, known for his engaging livestreams and dedicated audience, is considering severing ties with the widely used streaming platform, Twitch. This decision hinges on the unresolved suspension of fellow content creator IShowSpeed.
Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed are respected figures in the streaming community, boasting a global audience of millions of followers. Kai's groundbreaking 2023 subathon propelled him to become Twitch's leading streamer, setting multiple platform records. Similarly, IShowSpeed has garnered an impressive 20 million subscribers, though it is important to note that he previously streamed on Twitch before embarking on his YouTube venture. In 2021, IShowSpeed faced a permanent ban from the platform due to sexist remarks he made during a show called E-Date.
Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed are well-known friends who frequently collaborate on hosting streams together. However, there has been a notable issue due to IShowSpeed's ban on Twitch. Twitch's policy prohibits banned streamers from returning to the platform, which is why Kai Cenat has been advocating for a reevaluation of IShowSpeed's ban. Recently, during a livestream right before the 2023 Streamy Awards, Kai mentioned that he might contemplate leaving the platform if IShowSpeed's ban continues. However, he quickly clarified that his previous statement was made jokingly.
Furthermore, both Kai and IShowSpeed had encounters with the CEO of Twitch during the subsequent Streamy Awards event. During his conversation with the Twitch CEO, Kai Cenat actively expressed his belief that the ban on IShowSpeed should be lifted. Meanwhile, IShowSpeed was seen appealing by making gestures, including kneeling, in the hope of having his ban reconsidered by the platform.
It is important to mention that Kai has previously expressed support for the unbanning of IShowSpeed on Twitch. In fact, just earlier this month, Kai revealed that he had a meeting with Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, where he passionately argued for the immediate removal of IShowSpeed's ban. Clancy responded positively to this appeal. Although the final decision on IShowSpeed's ban remains uncertain, the topic itself is quite captivating. If the ban on IShowSpeed were to be lifted, it would certainly provoke reactions from others who have faced similar bans.
