Explosive GTA 6 Hacker Deemed Mentally Incapable of Facing Trial, Experts Confirm

Psychiatrists deem the teenage hacker behind the attempted Grand Theft Auto 6 leak as mentally unfit for trial, highlighting concerns over their capacity to stand trial

A group of psychiatrists have deemed a teenage hacker, known for attempting to blackmail Rockstar Games by leaking Grand Theft Auto 6 and hacking into other major companies like Uber and Nvidia Corp, unfit to stand trial. Grand Theft Auto 5, which has generated almost 8 billion dollars and is considered the most successful piece of fictional media ever made, has created immense anticipation for its successor, Grand Theft Auto 6. Despite the absence of an official trailer, eager fans eagerly latch onto any rumors surrounding the game, prompting Rockstar Games to combat leaks. However, the company likely didn't anticipate a young hacker's attempt to blackmail them over the highly anticipated title.

18-year-old Arion Kurtaj, a member of the hacker group known as Lapsus$, made an attempt to blackmail Rockstar Games by leaking the source code of Grand Theft Auto 6 online. Kurtaj has a track record of hacking into major corporations, such as his previous actions resulting in approximately three million dollars in damages to Uber through the release of confidential information. A panel of psychiatrists has determined that Kurtaj is not fit to stand trial, therefore the jury will be responsible for determining whether or not he committed these alleged crimes, rather than delivering a verdict based on his guilt.

This story resembles a side mission in Grand Theft Auto 6, but it is based on real events. Alongside an unidentified accomplice, Kurtaj demanded a ransom of four million dollars from EE, a British mobile company. These two hackers were prominent members of Lapsus$, a highly organized group with global reach. Notably, Lapsus$ has targeted major companies such as Samsung, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Ubisoft.

Kurtaj faces charges of three counts of blackmail and nine other offenses, including fraud. His partner in crime is currently on trial for two counts of fraud, two counts of blackmail, and three other related crimes, although he maintains his innocence. It is important to note that there has been no official statement from Rockstar Games regarding these developments or the release date of Grand Theft Auto 6.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development.
