Manchester United is giving serious consideration to allegations of domestic abuse brought against forward Antony. The 23-year-old has been excluded from the Brazilian team following accusations of physical aggression towards his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, which have been reported on multiple occasions since January.

"Manchester United acknowledges the allegations brought up against Antony and recognizes that the police are currently investigating," stated the club. "Until more details emerge, no additional comments will be made by the club."
"As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse."

Antony was removed from the Brazil squad this week after fresh claims were published
UOL, a Brazilian media outlet, recently reported new allegations made by Gabriela Cavallin. Antony, in June, took to Instagram to assert that he had been falsely accused by Ms. Cavallin of engaging in domestic violence.
On Monday, Antony expressed his confidence in ongoing police investigations to uncover the truth regarding his innocence. Following his initial statement on June 28, Antony has now issued a second denial on social media.
The accusation against me is completely false, and the evidence that has already been presented clearly demonstrates my innocence.
While my relationship with Ms. Gabriela was extremely turbulent, with both of us engaging in verbal offenses, I want to firmly state that I never resorted to any form of physical violence.
"I have complete faith that the current investigations being carried out by the police will ultimately unveil the undeniable truth regarding my innocence."
Subsequently, on Monday evening, the Brazilian Football Association officially affirmed the decision to remove Antony from the roster for the September World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru. Gabriel Jesus has been appointed as his replacement.
Greater Manchester Police issued a statement on Tuesday morning, acknowledging the allegations and confirming that investigations are still underway to ascertain the details surrounding this report. No further comments will be made at this moment.
