Exploring the Possibility of Another Boruto Movie

Although the Naruto anime had 10 movies, the Boruto franchise has only released one so far Will there be a second Boruto movie? Let's explore the exciting possibilities for the storyline of the potential sequel

During the run of Naruto, 10 movies were released, but only one Boruto movie has been part of the franchise. It is surprising that Studio Pierrot stopped making anime films and focused solely on television anime. Now that the first part of the anime has ended, will there be more Boruto movies for fans to look forward to?

Boruto, written by Ukyō Kodachi and Masashi Kishimoto and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto, was first serialized in 2016. The series was then adapted into an anime by Studio Pierrot in 2017, ending after episode 293 in March 2023.

Studio Pierrot is considering the possibility of producing a second Boruto movie. Despite the conclusion of the television anime's first part, there has been no indication from the studio or its staff regarding the release or production of the series's second part.

The anime concluded with its 293rd episode, which covered the content of the manga's 67th chapter. With the manga series totaling 80 chapters, along with an additional four chapters from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, the anime studio currently lacks the necessary source material to begin airing the anime's second part. As a result, the release of the second part is unlikely to occur in the near future.

However, Studio Pierrot is not willing to let one of its most popular series remain idle. Consequently, the anime studio may announce and create a second movie for the Boruto franchise.

However, Studio Pierrot is currently occupied with projects such as Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Kingdom, and the new Naruto anime, so it may be quite some time before any Boruto film is announced. Additionally, with no plans for Naruto/Boruto stages at Jump Festa 2024, the likelihood of a film announcement in the near future is very low.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie was released on August 7, 2015, marking over eight years since the last anime film. With the tenth anniversary approaching, fans can anticipate a new movie in 2025 to celebrate the milestone. Studio Pierrot will need to announce the project by 2024 to build excitement for its release.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie brought the Versus Momoshiki Arc to life in 2015, with the anime itself debuting in 2017. This suggests that if a second movie is made, it could potentially adapt a canon manga arc, as the studio has shown a willingness to animate arcs as movies.

However, the events following the manga's 67th chapter are too significant for the television anime. This may lead the anime studio to create an original story, possibly featuring the new Team 7 facing a new threat while the Hidden Leaf Village deals with Code, Eida, and Daemon.

Editor's P/S

As a dedicated fan of the Naruto and Boruto series, I am eagerly anticipating the possibility of a second Boruto movie. The first movie, released in 2015, was a thrilling and action-packed adventure that left me wanting more. The rich and complex world of Boruto, with its captivating characters and engaging storylines, has the potential to produce an even more incredible cinematic experience.

I believe that a second Boruto movie could explore some of the manga's most exciting arcs, such as the Code Arc or the Otsutsuki Invasion Arc. These arcs feature intense battles, emotional moments, and significant character development, making them perfect for adaptation into a feature-length film. Additionally, the movie could introduce new characters, expand on existing ones, and provide deeper insights into the lore of the Boruto universe.
