Do not trust any fungus when it comes to the new map in Among Us. In this social deduction game that thrives on chaos and confusion, no crewmate is safe. "The Fungle," the latest map, transports players to a fungus-filled jungle island where lies and deception flourish against the backdrop of a sunset beach and untamed wilderness.
Among Us's newest map is a masterpiece that invites players to uncover its mysterious and hidden surprises. The Fungle provides a unique environment for crewmates and impostors to navigate, unlike any other map in the game. There are plenty of exciting new elements to look forward to in this adventure-filled land of mushrooms. Players should prepare themselves for a wild ride by fastening their seatbelts provided by Skeld and getting ready for a thrilling adventure.
10 A Change Of Scenery
Following the crash landing on The Fungle, the crew finds themselves gathered around a campfire, surrounded by a few logs and the discarded seats from the dropship. The map is encompassed by a murky yellow sea. Exploring towards the left side of the map reveals scattered tasks located on the beaches and fishing dock.
Towards the bottom of the map lies the purple mushroom jungle, teeming with—yes, you guessed it—mushrooms. Its eerie atmosphere and the introduction of a new mushroom cloud sabotage compel the crewmates to promptly complete their tasks and make their exit. On the right side of the map, there are an array of distinct rooms, including the mining pit, lookout, and greenhouse. Additionally, familiar locations such as communications, upper engine, and the reactor can also be found.
9 The Fungle Cosmicube
In 2021, Among Us released the Roles and Cosmicube update, which incentivizes players to acquire reward systems by using in-game currencies and purchasing stars. Among Us offers a cosmicube specifically designed for every map, and The Fungle map is no exception.
The price for this newly introduced cosmicube is 70 stars. Once players have made the purchase, they can earn points within the game that contribute towards their cosmicube progress. These earned points can be used to unlock various items from different paths within the cosmicube. The unlocked contents of this cosmicube feature merchandise inspired by The Fungle, such as a satellite dish, starfish, and a bucket hat.
8 Fresh New Tasks
Players will be delighted to find that some of their beloved activities, such as watering plants and monitoring the temperature, have made a comeback in The Fungle. Additionally, there are new tasks that players will have the opportunity to experience for the first time. One task that has become a favorite among fans is grabbing a stick, making their way to the campfire at spawn, and skillfully roasting the perfect golden crewmate marshmallow. Just be sure to stop roasting before it becomes burnt.
Moreover, many players have developed a fondness for the fishing task at the dock. After catching a specified number of fish, they can then proceed to the kitchen to engage in the corresponding task of cooking up their fresh catch.
7 An A-Spore-able New Pet
Ever since The Fungle trailer debuted during the September Nintendo Direct, players have been eagerly discussing the possibility of having the adorable sand crab as a pet in the game. Luckily, a new crab (alongside the existing bedcrab) has been introduced as part of the numerous pets available to players. While there are plenty of adorable Among Us pets such as the hamster or the mini crewmate, none will be as suitable as the charming little crab from The Fungle cosmicube.
6 Wardrobe Overhaul
Several options exist for customizing your crewmate or impostor. The recent update for The Fungle map brings a complete revamp to the hats, skins, visors, and cosmetics available in the game. To complement the theme of the map, consider opting for the fishing hat, pool floaties, or a life jacket.
The thrill doesn't stop at regular Among Us gameplay. Among Us VR offers a plethora of new hats to commemorate the launch of The Fungle. You can enjoy Among Us VR on Meta Quest 2, PS VR, and SteamVR. Show off your style with the sand castle bucket hat or any other mushroom-themed attire.
5 New Sabotages
The fungi on this island serve a purpose beyond aesthetics or theme. They hold the key to a crucial ability available to both crewmates and impostors. When struck, these mushrooms release spores into the air, temporarily obscuring vision in the surrounding area. This innovative sabotage allows impostors to carry out their misdeeds discreetly, evading detection by other crewmates nearby. It is essential for crewmates to remain vigilant and keep an eye on players in the vicinity. However, they may need to flee from the spore cloud to ensure their survival.
Another ruthless sabotage is known as the Mushroom Mixup, a strategic power move by impostors. It involves momentarily scrambling everyone's appearance and eliminating their names, leaving everyone in the dark about each other's identities. This creates the perfect opportunity for the impostor to strike and kill without being identified.
4 The Meeting Conch
If players notice something suspicious and need to share important information with their crew members, they can initiate a meeting by pressing the Emergency Meeting button, which is usually found in the center of the map.
The Among Us team has replaced the old button with a conch shell. In various island regions across the world, conches are utilized as musical instruments. When blown, the sound of the conch shell is commonly used to warn islanders of potential dangers such as storms or attacks. An eerie horn-like sound will play, signaling the players to gather at the meeting screen where they can discuss their suspicions and vote to eliminate a player.
3 Send-Off Animation
When the group selects a player to be voted out, a captivating animation is played to depict the departure of the evicted crewmate into the abyss. The developers have consistently crafted humorous and at times vivid animations for the various maps. As an instance, in the "Polus" map, crewmates who are voted out are thrown into a blazing volcano, meeting their end in a pit of molten lava.
In The Fungle, the crew wistfully gazes at the horizon while witnessing their ousted companions drift away on a makeshift raft, destined to sink into the sea. The raft subsequently ignites, ensuring the potential impostor's demise. To avoid becoming adrift at sea, it is essential to blend in with the innocent crewmates.
2 Eye-Spying Binoculars
Get ready for a fresh perspective on The Fungle. In this game that thrives on clever deceit, it's essential to keep a keen eye on everyone traversing the map. With the exception of the MIRA HQ, every Among Us map features a camera system that enables players to observe their crewmates (and impostors) in various areas.
However, the latest map brings an exciting twist to the familiar camera setup. Instead of the usual cameras, a colossal pair of binoculars takes center stage, allowing players to spy on their fellow crewmates and their mischievous activities. What sets these binoculars apart is the uncertainty of being observed, unlike the other camera systems in the game. Impostors can never be entirely certain that their tricks won't be exposed.
1 Swapping Vents For Carnivorous Plants
In the previous four maps of Among Us, both impostors and crewmates occasionally had the ability to hide by entering vents located throughout the spaceship. However, the Fungle map introduces a unique twist in the game's history. Instead of traditional vents, there are now carnivorous plants that devour impostors and expel them in a different area.
Easily move from the Laboratory to the Greenhouse without raising suspicion from other crewmates about the impostor's whereabouts near deceased crew members. Just be cautious of the all-seeing, all-knowing binoculars.
Among Us is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
