Back in 2015, the first Inside Out movie introduced us to Riley, a young girl who had to adjust to a new life in San Francisco after moving from the Midwest. Throughout the film, we saw Riley’s emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness - dealing with the challenges of adapting to a new city, home, and school.
Amy Poehler, the voice of Joy, shared exciting news at the September 2022 D23 Studio Showcase - Pixar is working on a sequel to Inside Out! The crowd was thrilled when she made the announcement.
In November 2023, a sneak peek of the new movie was unveiled. Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness take part in a surprise "demo day" in Riley's mind, where they meet Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke.
Joy asked who made the console orange in the clip. Anxiety, the orange character, popped up and teased that she isn't the only new emotion they will have to deal with as Riley grows up.

Anxiety steps in and says, "I understand that change can be intimidating, but it's important for us to make new friends in high school. Let's embrace new connections and let go of the old ones."
Anxiety declares that Riley's life needs more complex emotions than the basic ones, trapping Joy and the others. Fear shouts, "We are being suppressed emotions!"
