The latest season of Overwatch 2, "Call of the Hunt," introduces a new tank hero and weapon skins. In addition to a PvPvE mode, the season brings back the Winter Wonderland and Lunar New Year holiday events.
According to a post on the Blizzard blog, Overwatch 2 Season 8 starts on December 5 and showcases the new tank hero Mauga, who can be unlocked through the battle pass. Players can instantly unlock Mauga with the premium battle pass or reach tier 45 in the free version. The season also brings new weapon skins, including Hard Light skins for Mercy, Reinhardt, and Reaper, which can be used with any hero skin. Previously, the only weapon skins in Overwatch 2 were the golden guns, obtained by earning points through competitive matches.
The latest season, Call of the Hunt, features beast hunter inspired skins for heroes such as Junker Queen, Mauga, and Ana. These skins will be available in the premium battle pass or for purchase in the shop. The final premium reward in the battle pass is a Mythic Orisa skin that transforms her into a fearsome beast. The season's theme also inspired a new arcade mode where two teams of four compete to defeat a boss version of Orisa.
The Winter Wonderland event starts on December 19 and will bring back Mei's Snowball Offensive and Yeti Hunt. During the event, players have the chance to earn one of three legendary skins for Cassidy, Baptiste, and Illari. Additionally, new legendary skins will be available in the shop, including a Mercy skin that was previously only seen in Winter Wonderland art.
The Lunar New Year event will begin on January 30 and will feature the prop hunt game mode with the new map, Lijiang Night Market. It will also include the return of the Capture the Flag and Bounty Hunter Deathmatch arcade modes, as well as new legendary skins in the shop. Additionally, Overwatch 2 Season 8: Call of the Hunt will start on December 5.
