Season 2 of Invincible has recently unveiled a new villain in the form of General Kregg. Who exactly is this new antagonist and what are his intentions towards the series' main character, Mark Grayson? Warning: significant spoilers for Invincible Season 2 ahead.
With all the villains making appearances in the second season of Invincible, it's easy to overlook General Kregg. Additionally, Sterling K. Brown's character, Angstrom Levy, is also a noteworthy antagonist throughout the season.
In addition to the return of established villains, the Prime Video superhero series also features the comeback of the Mauler Twins (Kevin Michael Richardson) and the resurgent Lizard League led by King Lizard (Scoot McNairy).
However, it is Kregg who is expected to capture the attention of most fans as Invincible Season 2 reaches its halfway point, and for good reason. He poses a significant threat to both Mark and the world, so continue reading to learn more about his motives and actions.
Invincible Season 2: Who is General Kregg?
General Kregg holds a prominent position in the army of the Viltrum Empire. He is portrayed by the seasoned character actor Clancy Brown, known for his previous work in superhero-related projects such as Superman: The Animated Series, Thor: Ragnarok, The Flash, and Gen V.
Although Kregg is a significant character in the comics, his first official, named appearance in the show occurs in the mid-season finale of Invincible Season 2, titled "It's Been a While." He arrives late in the episode, just as the defeated Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) is being taken away for execution.
Bent over Mark, who was defeated as well, Kregg orders him to go back to Earth and carry out Omni-Man's plan of taking over the planet. The no-nonsense soldier then cautions Mark that there will be dreadful consequences if he fails to comply.
"You can eliminate a few humans to make them surrender," Kregg sneers. "Or we will slaughter millions if we come back and find you or your planet still resisting us."
How is General Kregg connected to Invincible Season 2’s other Viltrumites?
General Kregg's interaction with Mark indicates that he is accustomed to issuing orders. However, where does he stand in comparison to the other Viltrumites in Invincible Season 2? The answer is simple: he is their leader.
This group includes loyalists like Thula, Lucan, and Vidor, who famously defeated Allen the Alien in Episode 3, as well as traitors to the cause, such as Omni-Man. Whether they officially report to Kregg or not, he is considered their commanding officer.
Kregg also considers himself to be Mark's superior, despite Mark being only half-Viltrumite and having grown up on Earth. This is why Kregg not only believes he has the right to assign Omni-Man's mission to Mark, but also expects him to see it through.

Editor's P/S
General Kregg is a complex and fascinating character. He is a ruthless and violent warrior, but he is also a loyal and dedicated soldier. He is fiercely protective of his people and his planet, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure their safety.
I am excited to see how Kregg's character develops in future seasons of Invincible. I think he has the potential to be a truly great villain, and I can't wait to see what he does next.
