Warcraft Rumble is a tower defense-like mobile game inspired by World of Warcraft Classic, featuring iconic units, spells, and bosses from the Warcraft universe.
The game calls for both strategy and patience, as it presents challenging moments that can potentially frustrate players. To enhance their army and access new zones, players have the opportunity to earn Gold and Valor currency.
Having a Leader from each faction is crucial, and it is recommended to concentrate on leveling up Leaders. Instead of scattering experience across a wide variety, players should instead focus on leveling up a limited number of Minis and Spells.
Blizzard unveiled Warcraft Arclight Rumble, a mobile game based on World of Warcraft Classic, over a year ago. This tower defense-like game allows players to collect mini versions of iconic units, spells, heroes, and villains from the Warcraft universe. They can then pit these against well-known bosses from Azeroth. The game has since dropped the "Arclight" from its name and is set to launch on November 3.
While Warcraft Rumble does not have a steep learning curve, it does demand a considerable amount of strategy and patience. Players may encounter difficulty spikes that can lead to frustration. Fortunately, our website had the opportunity to play during the testing phases of Warcraft Rumble. Here is a breakdown of the game mechanics and some tips to assist players in embarking on their Warcraft Rumble journey.
How Warcraft Rumble Works
In Warcraft Rumble, the gameplay revolves around protecting a base, mining Gold resources, battling enemy towers, and ultimately defeating formidable Warcraft bosses on various maps. Each map introduces unique mechanics while following a similar pattern. As players conquer maps, they unlock more challenging zones.
To enhance their progress, players have several options to earn Gold. They can clear maps, complete daily quests, claim login rewards, or make use of microtransactions. Gold serves as currency to acquire new Minis, Talents, and Experience. Alternatively, players can also level up their Minis through gameplay. It is worth noting that microtransactions in Warcraft Rumble are time-limited and provide a boost to players' journey, but do not grant the ability to select specific rewards.
Valor, on the other hand, can only be acquired through challenging gameplay in Warcraft Rumble. This valuable currency is essential for enhancing a Leader's army by upgrading their slots, thereby providing significant synergies and advantages if the Minis possess the corresponding traits. Players can obtain Valor by participating in Dungeons, and potentially in upcoming events like Raids.
In addition to Dungeons and Raids, other events in Warcraft Rumble also offer rewards in the form of currency. Arclight Surges provide an opportunity for players to revisit completed zones with special rules and restrictions, in exchange for extra Gold. PvP battles allow players to compete against other Warcraft Rumble players. After the game is launched, players can anticipate various time-limited events through seasonal content, including the option to unlock the new Sylvanas Leader for the Undead faction shortly after the game’s release.
Beginner Tips for Warcraft Rumble
Buy One Leader of Each Faction First
The shop offers multiple Leaders to choose from for each of the five factions – Alliance, Beast, Blackrock, Horde, and Undead. It may be enticing to acquire every Leader that becomes available, but it is important to note that a team can only have one Leader. Leveling up two Leaders of the same faction must be done separately, and it does not provide any advantage other than offering different tactics for battles.
It is crucial to have at least one Leader from every faction. This enables players to replay a cleared map using a different faction in order to earn additional Gold through Conquest mode. Once players have progressed through the initial zones, they can clear each map once with every faction to optimize their Gold earnings.
The following Leaders are available to play in Warcraft Rumble upon its release:
Name | Faction | Description |
---|---|---|
Jaina Proudmoore | Alliance | Ranged unit who slows enemies and empowers Spells. |
Maiev Shadowsong | Alliance | Stealthy assassin who becomes cheaper when other Unbound units are played. |
Tirion Fordring | Alliance | Armored tank that heals nearby allies. |
Hogger | Beast | Tanky AoE unit that gets faster each time he is summoned. |
Old Murk-Eye | Beast | Fast, ranged AoE unit that spawns Murloc Tidehunters for each Gold spent after him. |
Charlga Razorflank | Beast | Cheap, ranged caster who roots and shuts down ground enemies. |
Rend Blackhand | Blackrock | Flying AoE unit that dismounts when defeated, and makes other Flying units cheaper. |
General Drakkisath | Blackrock | Slow-moving tank that increases Elemental damage to nearby enemies. |
Cairne Bloodhoof | Horde | AoE tank with a stunning strike who gives other Horde units more Health. |
Sneed | Horde | AoE siege tank that gains Gold when destroying Towers or capturing objectives. |
Grommash Hellscream | Horde | Tanky ground unit that buffs all nearby allies. |
Baron Rivendare | Undead | Fast ground unit that summons Skeletons from friendly buildings. |
Bloodmage Thalnos | Undead | AoE ranged unit that gets stronger when Spells are played. |
Sylvanas Windrunner | Undead | Ranged unit who summons a Banshee on death, and buffs both Horde and Undead allies. |
Level Leaders First
Don’t Spread Out Experience Too Much
Priority should always be given to leveling up Leaders over other Minis. This is because, apart from enhancing the Leader's stats similar to a regular Troop, the level of a Leader also directly impacts the strength of an army. By having a higher level Leader, the base and towers become more powerful, thereby increasing the chances of overcoming tougher challenges.
Experience is highly valued in Warcraft Rumble, where there are a total of 60 minis to be collected from the five factions. It is natural for players to aspire to collect them all. However, it is important to note that only a Leader and six Troops or Spells can be deployed in an army at any given time. Therefore, it is more prudent to concentrate on leveling up and acquiring Talents for a specific, smaller selection of minis. For instance, if a player already possesses the Earth Elemental, there may not be an immediate need for another Tower-killing Troop such as the Warsong Raider. It is worth noting that a Leader can utilize minis and spells from other factions, so do not hesitate to depend on the same minis across multiple teams.
Master the G.R.I.D.
The G.R.I.D., a three-by-three grid, serves as the platform for players to purchase Minis, Talents, and Experience for their teams. Each time a player makes a purchase from the grid, the offerings in the corresponding rows and columns automatically refresh, providing new options. Additionally, the G.R.I.D. undergoes a daily cycle where the bottom row is eliminated and the top row is refreshed. To prevent items from being rotated out, players have the option to move them one slot over for a small Gold fee, although excessive use of this feature can incur high costs. It is worth noting that Minis that are removed from the G.R.I.D. can reappear at a later time.
Always Enter the Dungeon
Take the Game Slowly
Warcraft Rumble features dungeons that consist of multiple stages. These battles progressively become more challenging for players who successfully complete them, but become easier after each defeat. If players are unable to clear an entire dungeon, they will still be rewarded with Valor for each boss they defeat at each dungeon level. Even defeating just one boss during a dungeon period can provide players with an advantage in subsequent battles.
Warcraft Rumble can prove to be unexpectedly challenging. Certain gimmicks found on each map can present overwhelming obstacles until your team has gained a significant advantage in levels. Although skilled players may clear a map sooner, there is no dishonor in temporarily stepping away and returning later. Take on some Conquest missions, wait for the refresh of Daily Quests, or explore PvP in the meantime.
World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft, an MMORPG that has thrived for nearly two decades, stands as one of the most triumphant and highest-grossing franchises in history.
