Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all smiles while meeting with software engineering fellows at a Brooklyn trade school.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently in New York City to observe World Mental Health Day, made a visit to the Marcy Lab School on Tuesday, October 10. This visit was in order to meet the group of high school graduates who have been selected as the Fall 2023 Marcy Lab Fellows. The Marcy Lab School, which is partnered with Harry and Meghan's Archewell Foundation, provides a year-long fellowship to these chosen candidates. This fellowship aims to equip them with the necessary software engineering skills required to pursue careers in the tech industry, while also incorporating mental wellness and civic engagement into their curriculum, as stated on the official Archewell Foundation website.
During their visit with the current fellows, as well as the program's alumni, the Sussexes gained insights into how the fellowship has positively impacted their lives and careers. They also learned about the fellows' aspirations to use the technological advancements they are working on to create positive change. Notably, the Archewell Foundation is centered around the core purpose of doing good, as highlighted on their website.
Harry, aged 38, and Meghan, aged 42, will be hosting their inaugural in-person mental health summit in New York City as part of their Archewell Foundation. Titled "Mental Wellness in a Digital Age," the event will focus on the experiences of parents who have tragically lost their children due to the impact of social media. These families have been actively involved with The Archewell Foundation for the past year, working together to build a stronger community and find solutions. Their shared goal is to prevent similar incidents from occurring in other families by sharing personal stories, data, and research.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to New York for the first time since a harrowing car chase incident in May 2023.
