The official website for the anime series "Mr. Villain's Day Off" unveiled the series' initial full promotional video and a new key visual on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. This upcoming TV anime is an adaptation of Yuu Morikawa's manga series of the same name. Alongside announcing a release timeframe for the series, the website and promotional video also introduced more staff and cast members for "Mr. Villain's Day Off." The artists responsible for the opening and ending theme songs were disclosed, although the specific titles of the songs were not revealed.

The manga series, which is going to be adapted into the Mr. Villain's Day Off anime, originally premiered on Square Enix's digital Pixiv website manga publication in December 2018. As of now, the series is still being serialized on that platform. The fifth volume was recently published in Japan in April 2023, and the second volume in English is scheduled to be released in early November 2023.

The Mr. Villain’s Day Off anime series has been confirmed for a January 2024 premiere, according to an announcement on the series' official website and its latest promotional video. Singer Ivudot will perform the opening theme song, while the band GLASGOW will perform the ending theme song. Shintaro Asanuma has been previously announced as the cast member for protagonist Warmono-san (General). Additional cast members include Soma Saito as Rooney, Yuichi Nakamura as Trigger, Hiiro Ishibashi as Akatsuki Red, Takuya Eguchi as Soten Blue, Ai Kakuma as Shinonome Pink, Hibiku Yamamura as Reimei Green (Sora) and Reimei Green (Mugi), and Yuichiro Umehara as Yoiyami Black.
Director Yoshinori Odaka is helming the anime project, which is being produced by Shinei Animation and Synergy SP studios. Overseeing the development of the series' scripts is Midori Gotou, while Tomomi Shimazaki is responsible for character animation design. Composing the music for the show is Nobuaki Nobusawa. The anime is scheduled to debut on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, and BS Nippon TV channels in January 2024. According to Square Enix's Manga UP! website, which publishes the English version of the series, it portrays the story of an Evil Organization from another planet attempting to conquer Earth. The extraterrestrial member of this organization, known as the "General," is engaged in a relentless daily struggle against Earth's defenders, where every encounter becomes a matter of life and death. However, today is a rare day off for him.
