Exclusive: Robert Kirkman's Bold Transformation Plan for Invincible - Iconic TV Star to Join Cast!

Renowned comic writer Robert Kirkman extends an invite to a legendary TV actor for the Invincible series, only to be declined politely due to the actor's busy schedule

Highlights

Invincible creator Robert Kirkman approached Bryan Cranston to join the cast, but the actor turned down the offer citing his hectic schedule. However, Kirkman remains optimistic about the possibility of Cranston eventually joining the show and will continue his efforts to make it happen.

Cranston's renowned acting prowess and his memorable portrayal of Walter White have made him a highly sought-after addition to the show's ensemble.

During Comic-Con, Invincible creator Robert Kirkman revealed that he had approached Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad to lend his iconic voice as Heisenberg to the cast. Sadly, Cranston declined the offer citing his current commitments. Kirkman shared the specifics of his conversation with Cranston and mentioned that he remains open to the possibility of bringing him on board in the near future. However, he did not provide a timeline for this prospective collaboration.

Pat Mueller from ABC 10 News San Diego provided a comprehensive account of Kirkman's interaction with Cranston at Comic-Con. According to Mueller, Kirkman expressed that Bryan Cranston is a highly sought-after addition to the show. When Kirkman approached Cranston about lending his voice to the production, Cranston politely declined, citing his busy schedule. Kirkman, acknowledging Cranston's status as a renowned actor, stated that he believed him. However, Kirkman has not completely ruled out the possibility of Cranston appearing in the future. Mueller mentioned that Kirkman intends to persistently reach out to Cranston, hoping that the familiar and distinctive voice of Heisenberg might be on board eventually.

Invincible has managed to secure renowned actors for the show, including some notable names from AMC's successful series, such as Steven Yeun. Yeun portrays the main character Mark Grayson/Invincible, well-known for his role as Glenn on The Walking Dead. Interestingly, the original cast for the Guardians of the Globe included actors who had previously appeared in the zombie apocalypse show. Additionally, Jon Hamm, famous for his portrayal of Don Draper on Mad Men, made a guest appearance as a secret service agent in the first two episodes of the series. The announcement of season 2's release date also revealed that Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul will join the cast.

According to Kirkman, Cranston's reputation as one of Hollywood's finest actors makes him a difficult catch, just like a white whale. This is primarily due to his astounding portrayal of Walter White in Breaking Bad. However, it is often overlooked that Cranston has an extensive background in comedy, which initially caused laughter among AMC executives when considering him for the role of White. Regardless of the character he plays, Cranston proves himself to be exceptional, whether he is intended to be a villain or to bring laughter to the audience.

The show previously demonstrated this by casting Mark Hamill as the talented character Art Rosenbaum, who is known for his iconic portrayal of Luke Skywalker but also for his villainous voice work as The Joker on Batman: The Animated Series and Firelord Ozai on Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was both amusing and fitting to see him take on a non-villainous role. Perhaps Bryan Cranston could do something similar, such as playing a reversed version of Walter White, someone who initially was evil and eventually turned good.

Streaming of new episodes for season 2 of Invincible will begin on November 3, 2023.
