Max Thieriot, who portrays Bode on the popular CBS series Fire Country, has big plans for the franchise and is excited to keep exploring. He believes there is still plenty of untapped potential in Edgewater and beyond.
Thieriot not only stars on the show but also serves as a cocreator, director, and executive producer. He shared his original vision for the show, which includes plans for additional spinoffs set in the same world as Fire Country. (CBS has already picked up the spinoff series Sheriff Country for a full season.)
"When I first started, I was always thinking ahead. In my mind, I had at least three other concepts besides Fire Country," he told Us. "Whether these ideas will come to fruition remains to be seen. However, I do have a few more ideas for this universe."
Thieriot is not only thinking about the Fire Country. He is also working on other projects. He mentioned, "Aside from that, I'm exploring other worlds too. I'm trying to juggle everything but not overwhelm myself."
The CBS series, which debuted in 2022, follows inmate Bode (played by Thieriot) as he seizes an opportunity to reduce his prison sentence by participating in the California Conservation Camp Program. Bode is sent to his hometown, where he reconnects with his family and old friends while striving to make amends.

I have a lot of friends that do this job and so it’s always important to me to portray it in the best way possible. Obviously this is still a fictional story but that doesn’t fall short on me.” He emphasized the importance of trust within the team and the collaborative process of pitching ideas to find the best ones for the series.

Thieriot, in reference to season 1 having over 20 episodes and season 2 only having 10, shared that having more episodes allows them to expand on the stories and take their time to develop them. This slower pace prevents anything from feeling rushed. Looking forward to season 3, Thieriot is excited to delve back into that process.
Fire Country has been renewed for season 3 on CBS. All episodes are streaming on Paramount+.
He shared his thoughts on the renewal, saying, “It’s the perfect time because we have so much to explore this season and going forward. Having those extra episodes will really help us map it all out over a longer number of episodes.”
