Why the Amazon Could Be Diablo 4's Sixth Class

Past expansions in the series have introduced fresh classes and regions for players to discover. Diablo 2's Lord of Destruction expansion introduced the Druid and Assassin classes and a new location called Mount Arreat. Similarly, Diablo 3's Reaper of Souls expansion included the Crusader class and the region of Westmarch. Considering the hints and rumors surrounding the setting for Diablo 4's first major expansion, it is highly likely that the Amazon, a class featured in Diablo 2, will make a comeback as the sixth class in the game.

Originating from Diablo 2, the Amazon class was one of the starting options in the game, specializing in bows and spears. While there are similarities between the Rogue in Diablo 4 and the Amazon in Diablo 2, such as the Inner Sight skill and the use of arrows infused with elemental powers, the Amazon's unique incorporation of spears and javelins could set her apart from the Rogue with some minor modifications. Furthermore, if the Amazon were to be reintroduced in Diablo 4, it would bring the first ever polearm user to the game, making her inclusion in a future expansion highly likely.

There is strong evidence indicating that a potential expansion for Diablo 4 will transport players to the ancient city of Kurast and the neighboring Torajan Jungle, located south of Kehjistan. This iconic setting from Diablo 2 presents an ideal opportunity to introduce the Amazon class. By incorporating both Kurast as a prime location and the Amazon class, Diablo 4 would continue to pay homage to its predecessor. The Amazon class is particularly fitting for this locale as they are part of the seafaring Askari tribe, which was one of the earliest groups to establish contact with the region.

Furthermore, Amazons traditionally excel as hunters in jungle environments, further solidifying their connection to this setting. Despite the expectation that Diablo Immortal's new Blood Knight class would make its way into Diablo 4 due to its ties to the city of Gea Kul, Blizzard may choose to reserve the Blood Knight class exclusively for the mobile title, and instead offer the Amazon class as an alternative polearm user in Diablo 4. Given Diablo 4's extensive incorporation of elements from Diablo 2, the Amazon emerges as a compelling option for the game's sixth class, on par with the Blood Knight.

The Amazon was initially considered to be included in Diablo 3 as part of the game's hero pack model. However, it was overlooked in favor of the Necromancer. It's possible that Blizzard may want to correct this decision by featuring the Amazon in Diablo 4, alongside the Necromancer from the base game.
