New rumors circulating the internet concerning the plot of the upcoming Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again have stirred up strong emotions among fans. Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrays Kingpin in the series, has provided some advice in response.
Daredevil: Born Again serves as a soft reboot of Netflix’s cancelled Daredevil series, featuring certain actors reprising their roles as Daredevil, Kingpin, and The Punisher. However, only these characters have been confirmed to make a return. Fans recently received disappointing news when a former stunt person from the Netflix series stated, "They genuinely have no intention of replicating the Marvel Netflix Daredevil in any way."
A recent Instagram post by CanWeGetSomeToast shared disappointing news about the plot of Daredevil: Born Again. According to the post, Matt Murdock and Kirsten McDuffie will be teaming up at Murdock & Associates, his new firm, instead of Nelson and Murdock. This revelation upset fans who had grown to love the dynamic between Foggy and Matt in the show. Frustrated, fans took to Twitter to express their anger.
One Twitter user commented, stating, "No Karen, no Foggy, no thanks. And then there's Kingpin. @vincentdonofrio is always brilliant, but I saw all the PG-13 Kingpin I ever wanted and more in Hawkeye." Responding to this, D'Onofrio offered a simple but wise piece of advice, saying, "Patience. Patience..." It is unclear whether D'Onofrio is referring to the return of other characters or suggesting that his portrayal of Kingpin may deviate from the PG-13 standard. Regardless, his words imply that there is more to the situation than meets the eye and that fans should wait to see the final product.
An on-set photo was leaked in March of this year, which could provide more information about the timeline of the show. The photo reveals a bulletin board displaying the date as March 15, 2020, indicating that the scene being filmed takes place during the blip. However, it is uncertain whether this scene is a flashback or if the entire show is set during the blip. The absence of Foggy and Karen could potentially be explained if the show indeed takes place during the blip.
The series will consist of 18 episodes and will be divided into two parts. With such a lengthy story to cover, it is possible that characters from the blip may reappear by the end of the story, delighting fans. In March, D'Onofrio commented on the series, describing it as "deep" and "emotional." He also promised significant payoffs in the second season, stating that fans will get what they want. Therefore, fans should remain patient before jumping to conclusions or expressing frustration, taking into account Kingpin's wise words.
