Exclusive Insights: Erik ten Hag's Bold Prediction for Mason Greenwood's Future at Man Utd

Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges against Mason Greenwood in February, including attempted rape and assault Despite not playing for Man Utd since January 2022, Erik ten Hag believes the club will make the final decision regarding Greenwood's future

Erik ten Hag has expressed his thoughts and recommendations regarding the future of Mason Greenwood at Manchester United. However, he acknowledges that the final decision rests with the club.

Following the club's instructions in February, the 21-year-old has been prohibited from participating in training sessions and matches. This restriction will continue until the club concludes its internal investigation, subsequent to the Crown Prosecution Service's discontinuation of the case against Greenwood. The charges against him included attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, as well as assault causing actual bodily harm.

A club decision is anticipated regarding his future, with the verdict expected prior to the commencement of the upcoming Premier League season. According to Ten Hag, "While I have expressed my thoughts and perspectives, the final call lies with the club. It's something we must all acknowledge and respect."

When asked about Ten Hag's desire for Greenwood to remain, he responded, "I cannot provide extensive insight on the matter. However, I have expressed my viewpoint, and now we must wait and see what unfolds and what decision is made."

On January 30th of last year, United declared that Greenwood would not resume training or participate in any matches "until further notice."

Nike suspended and later terminated its sponsorship contract with Greenwood, while Electronic Arts confirmed his removal from active squads in their FIFA 22 game. The player, hailing from Bradford, emerged from the United academy and officially started his senior career with a triumph in the Champions League, defeating Paris Saint-Germain in March 2019.

He has one senior cap for England, playing in the Nations League match against Iceland in September 2020.
