Ubisoft may have inadvertently disclosed the launch timeframe for the upcoming game Assassin's Creed Codename Red. Following its Ubisoft Forward event in 2022, the publisher has noticeably increased its focus on developing more Assassin's Creed projects in the coming years. Among these projects, Assassin's Creed Codename Red stands out as a particularly intriguing addition to the franchise. Now, it seems that fans may not have to wait long to catch a glimpse of the game.
During its official announcement, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed Codename Red will be set in feudal Japan, a highly requested setting for the series. While there haven't been many details shared about the game since then, a popular rumor suggests that it may feature two main playable characters: a samurai and a shinobi. However, it remains uncertain whether this will result in two separate storylines or a single character that can be swapped between. Regardless, there is currently limited evidence to support the validity of this rumor.
Another noteworthy development has emerged regarding the upcoming project. According to a LinkedIn post by Arisa Lagunzad, a Ubisoft employee, the company is seeking a partner in Japan for their highly anticipated blockbuster set to release in 2024. Although the original Japanese version of the post no longer mentions the specific year, the translated text indicates that Ubisoft is searching for a sponsoring partner for their upcoming title Assassin's Creed Codename Red, slated for release next year. This aligns with previous rumors that hinted at a similar release timeframe, although Ubisoft Quebec, the developer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, has yet to provide detailed information on the game.
However, there is another intriguing addition to the franchise. Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, which revolves around witches, promises to be an ambitious entry. The game is rumored to be set in late 16th/early 17th century Germany during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire. Notably, both Assassin's Creed Codename Red and Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe will be accessible through Assassin's Creed Infinity, a live-service hub that will cater to future titles in the series.
The actual release window for Assassin's Creed Codename Red is still uncertain, given the recent delays that have affected many AAA projects. However, fans don't have to wait much longer for the next installment of Ubisoft's franchise. Assassin's Creed Mirage, a highly anticipated sequel with a host of exciting features, is set to be released in October.
